Therapy is more than just talking about your emotions.
While processing how you feel is part of it, your therapist also builds a treatment plan around your specific symptoms and goals.
From there, every session is working toward things like:
1. Understanding and shifting patterns and behaviors
2. Building skills to manage your symptoms
3. Working toward specific goals you set together
4. Improving how you function day to day
This week, Stacey Krauss, Psy.D., ABPP, CEO of Transitions Counseling and Consulting, joined Maggie Flecknoe on CW39 Houston | KIAH-TV Htown Live to talk about mental health, what sets Transitions apart, and how we're expanding access to care in the Houston area.
We're so thankful to Maggie and the CW39 team for having us and discussing mental health, an issue that touches every family and every community.

Transitions Counseling and Consulting CEO Dr. Stacey Krauss is on CW39 H-Town Live with Maggie Flecknoe today.
She'll talk about the care we provide in the Houston metro for children, teens, and adults dealing with depression, anxiety, PTSD, ADHD, relationship issues, and more.
We're in-network with most major insurance, Joint Commission accredited, and we have locations in Spring and Montrose, with Sugar Land and Cypress opening this summer and fall.
Loneliness and depression don't just show up together. Research shows they drive each other, meaning each one makes the other worse over time.
People who feel the most lonely are roughly 14 times more likely to have major depression and 11 times more likely to have generalized anxiety compared to people who rarely feel lonely.
That's not a small difference.
Loneliness isn't a personality trait or a phase. It's a clinical signal that deserves the same attention as other symptoms.
It's Mental Health Awareness Month. Take 10 seconds right now and save 988 in your phone.
It's a free call or text to someone who will listen, any time of day. You don't have to be in crisis to use it.
Then send this to one person you care about.
We are now in-network with Curative!
Curative is one of the fastest-growing employer health plans in Texas and the Southeast, designed around affordability, engagement, and simplicity.
At Transitions Counseling and Consulting, we share that commitment: Accepting insurance for mental health services, building the kind of therapeutic relationships that keep people engaged in their care, and offering therapy, psychiatry, IOP, and PHP all under one roof.
Joining the Curative network is one more way we are expanding access to the people who need it most.

Transitions Counseling and Consulting is proud to announce we are in-network with Baylor Scott and White Health in Texas, the largest not-for-profit health system in the state.
Baylor Scott and White has built an integrated network of hospitals, clinics, and specialists across Texas, grounded in a longstanding commitment to clinical excellence and comprehensive patient care. For the communities they serve, that means access to coordinated, high quality care that spans the full spectrum of health needs.
Expanding access to quality behavioral health care has always been central to what we do, and being part of this network is a natural extension of that mission.
If you or a family member is looking for mental health support through intensive outpatient programs, partial hospitalization programs, psychiatry, or therapy, contact us today to schedule an appointment.
For over 10 years, developing the next generation of therapists has been a core part of what we do at Transitions Counseling and Consulting.
Our supervised graduate interns complete the same onboarding as our licensed clinical staff, follow the same policies and procedures for quality and patient safety, and have a licensed therapist supervising them throughout.
The benefit to our clients is straightforward: sessions at $30, Saturday appointments available, and the same clinical oversight that you'd expect from any other provider on our team.
If cost or scheduling has been a barrier for you, contact us today.
Feeling nervous about starting group therapy is normal. It's one of the most common things we hear from adults before they start IOP.
We recommend a few things make the first day easier.
π Ask to look through the group curriculum beforehand.
π Have your therapist walk you through what a typical session looks like.
π See the therapy space before you start.
π Arrive early enough to park, use the restroom, and get comfortable before the session begins.
For most people the nervousness is gone after the first session or two. They're learning skills that actually help, getting to know the people in the room, and settling into how it all works.
