If I’m being honest, the trophies are nice and all, but the real reward is serving you day in and day out. When the weather gets rough in #Houston or you need to plan around the weather for an important life event, we’re here for you at @abc13houston! (3/3)
Christmas came a little early for me this week! Today I received my two Lone Star Emmy awards for outstanding achievement as the top weather anchor in Texas along with our team award for Eye on the Gulf: Hunting Hurricanes. (1/3)
I am so proud of our team for winning the Emmy three years in a row for our annual hurricane special, and it’s now two years in a row for weather anchor. And if you know anything about @TAMU Aggies, if it happens two years in a row, it becomes a tradition. 😁 @tamu_atmo (2/3)
I couldn’t be there tonight, but I just got the wonderful news I won the Lone Star Emmy in the “Anchor - Weather” category for the second year in a row! I’m really hoping our team also brings home the hardware for our hurricane special “Eye on the Gulf: Hunting Hurricanes.” 🏆 🙏
This rare "derecho" windstorm caused damage from Space City to the Space Coast - that's right, from #Houston, Texas all the way to Cape Canaveral, Florida! The damage path of wind reports on this map, which started in Austin, Texas, stretches for over 1,000 miles!!!
Monday is going to be a sloppy day in Southeast Texas, and in some spots there could be street flooding. We’ll keep you well informed and aware as needed throughout the day.
Monday is an ABC13 Weather Alert Day 🌧️⚠️
Expect a wet and slow-going commute with reduced visibility from heavy rainfall and some typical street flooding/ponding into the afternoon. We are not expected flash floods or bayou/creek flooding at this time. @abc13houston
ICE ALERT: Y’all, this is not a drill! I-10 is getting shut down in both directions west of Houston in Brookshire. Ice is all over the freeway with an overturned 18-wheeler in one direction and another accident in the opposite direction.

We just learned Houston Mayor John Whitmire has postponed the MLK Day parades due to the incoming weather. It was a decision made with safety in mind as freezing rain is possible over the city tomorrow.
It's pretty wild right now to see what a difference that "bonus sunshine" is doing for Houston. Under the clouds it's 20° colder just up the road in Huntsville! The freeze line (magenta) will push south again tonight. https://t.co/kYz1z4P7gd
…the arctic front may roll in during the Chevron Houston Marathon, and we've tried to answer all your questions and lay out all our expectations here: https://t.co/kYz1z4P7gd (2/2)
WINTER IS COMING:
We have high confidence the arctic cold front is coming, and we've now declared Monday (MLK Day) and Tuesday as ABC13 Weather Alert Days due to the possibility of freezing rain and a hard freeze to follow. It also now looks like… (1/2)
It’s time to start prepping for the possibility of a pipe-bursting hard freeze in Houston next week. At this time low temperatures in the low 20s are most likely, but lows in the teens are possible. This does not look like a repeat of February 2021. (1/2)
We’re closely monitoring a weather pattern that could bring and keep very cold temperatures in #Houston next week. While there is still some variance with how cold it will be, now is the time to remember the “4 P’s of Freeze:” people, pets, pipes and plants. @abc13houston
Got a dirty vehicle this morning? Here’s why:
Satellite imagery from late yesterday shows a significant amount of dust got kicked up by the high winds over West Texas and the Panhandle, and that mixed in with the hailstorms that blew over Houston during the evening. (1/2)
and golf ball size hail are possible.
The watch runs until 9PM because it includes many counties in southern Louisiana, too. Our severe weather threat will end once the front clears the coast, which should happen by around 7PM.

TORNADO WATCH NOW IN EFFECT UNTIL 9PM
If you're in the highlighted counties, make sure you have a way to receive weather warnings and have a plan in place in case you go under a warning.
In addition to a few intense tornadoes (EF-2 or stronger), 70 mph wind gusts...
