This story is actually insane:
• dude drops $2000 on a DJI robot vacuum like a lunatic
• refuses to use the normal app like a peasant
• Sammy Azdoufal fires up Claude to crack the API so he can drive it with an xbox controller
• Claude delivers the goods
• pulls an auth token from their servers, connects successfully
• except the system thinks he controls 7000 vacuums
• checks again
• yep, seven thousand
• DJI built authentication with zero device ownership verification
• any valid token works for any unit on the planet
• Sammy now has eyes inside homes across 24 countries
• live vacuum camera feeds everywhere
• full floor plans from the mapping data
• some guy in germany eating cereal at 3am, unaware his roomba is snitching
• one API call away from being the most informed burglar in history
• all he wanted was to steer his vacuum with a joystick
• does the right thing and reports it
• DJI fixes it in two days
• back to normal life with his stupidly expensive floor cleaner
• IoT companies stay undefeated at shipping garbage security
Good questions.
We have not locked a public Home Assistant integration path yet. HA hooks are useful early-user input as we firm up integrations.
For known vs unknown and names, on-device SylvanAi builds persistent local context from events over time and adapts based on what matters in your environment. User feedback helps it get better at recognizing people, animals, packages, vehicles, and meaningful behaviors, and at tailoring alerts. Intent is useful local identity context under your control, not only a generic detection.
Know exactly when someone pulls into your driveway.
Potoo™ uses on-device AI to detect and track vehicles in real time, with zero cloud uploads.

@4evafrosty Ha, Y2K vibes. We are not trying to sell panic. Pitch is private processing on your own gear for people who already want driveway awareness. Easy pass if that is not you.
Good question. Potoo is being built for IP cameras that support the ONVIF standard for auto-discovery and streaming. If your cameras can provide an ONVIF stream on your network, that's the compatibility path we support. Note that not all consumer camera setups expose a local ONVIF stream by default. Results can vary depending on the camera's firmware, stream quality, and network. Once we complete product development, we'll be able to provide more tailored compatibility advice for specific cameras.
Don’t want to replace all your cameras?
Potoo™ (poh-TOO) works with most existing ONVIF cameras right out of the box. It offers auto discovery, local AI processing, and natural language search.

@SteveSmith56721 Totally fair to pass. On access: the aim is your video and processing stay on your device under your control, not in a vendor cloud others can pull from.
Tired of digging through footage or useless alerts?
We are building Potoo™ (poh-TOO) with on-device AI that understands context and stays private on your device.

@TheHurstFiles This makes sense. Trust-minimizing is the point for us too: video and AI stay on your device for your own property, not aggregated into someone else's network.
@MFMEHLOW Nothing is unhackable, and we are not claiming that. Point for us is privacy and control. Your data on your gear, not a third party by default.
@miniyardcow Good question. The point is alerts for your own property, not tracking everyone on the street. Video and AI stay on your device; we are not building a shared agency camera network.
@alwayseektruth Hear you. The problem is cameras pointed at everyone else's life, not tools you control for your own place. Potoo is private on-device AI for your property. Footage and AI stay on your device, not a neighbor or agency network.
Tired of useless 3am alerts?
Potoo™ (poh-TOO) uses on device AI for truly intelligent and low noise notifications while keeping all your video fully private.

@AltBadDude Different product. Flock is a shared agency tracking network. Potoo™ (poh-TOO) is private on-device AI for your own property: video and AI stay on your device, not a multi-agency network.
