If you pick a trillium in the height of its flowering glory, it may not be able to collect enough resources to survive the the year.
Please leave them be.
Seeing green? The green stripes seen on this Large White Trillium are caused by a bacteria-like mycoplasma. Though it looks interesting, the bacteria will eventually harm the plant. Keep an eye out for these & other healthy #Trilliums currently blooming along the #BruceTrail.
We may not always appreciate a rainy day, but at this time of year, rainy nights are key to the migrations of amphibians, like the Spotted Salamander.

Rainy nights mean their sensitive skins won't dry out out en route to their breeding ponds.

While edible plants may be found along the #BruceTrail, remember that #foraging is not permitted. Picking wild plants can affect forest biodiversity, deplete plant populations, & reduce food for wildlife. When visiting, leave only your thanks & take nothing but photographs.

The new #camping season is almost upon us with many #ParksCanada places beginning to take reservations starting next week! Make sure to be prepared by creating your account, signing into the system before booking, + having a back up plan. More tips here: https://t.co/7QZkfYBQ31
Travel tip: Have fun & encourage exploring. Kids might find a woodlot they imagine as a fort or an icy path will become a slide. If your 1 km hike took 4 hrs because your kids played in the creek-it's a success!

“The love of wilderness is more than a hunger for what is always beyond reach; it is also an expression of loyalty to the earth, the earth which bore us and sustains us, the only paradise we shall ever know, the only paradise we ever need.” – Edward Abbey
