Going 50/50 with my woman will only ever make sense to me the day I can give birth, too. We are here to serve them. Imagine someone extending your lineage, and you ask her, "What do you bring to the table?" She brings life, bro.
major gag occurred.. rosalía arrived, served insane vocals and choreo, looked gorgeous, orchestra behind her, switched the genre and shook the british tea tables https://t.co/b8XcGWpaC9
Umberto Eco, who owned 50,000 books, had this to say about home libraries:
“It is foolish to think that you have to read all the books you buy, as it is foolish to criticize those who buy more books than they will ever be able to read. It would be like saying that you should use all the cutlery or glasses or screwdrivers or drill bits you bought before buying new ones.
“There are things in life that we need to always have plenty of supplies, even if we will only use a small portion.
“If, for example, we consider books as medicine, we understand that it is good to have many at home rather than a few: when you want to feel better, then you go to the ‘medicine closet’ and choose a book. Not a random one, but the right book for that moment. That’s why you should always have a nutrition choice!
“Those who buy only one book, read only that one and then get rid of it. They simply apply the consumer mentality to books, that is, they consider them a consumer product, a good. Those who love books know that a book is anything but a commodity.”
I just love books and libraries and the smell of books and the sound of flipping pages and i just love words and paper and fictional characters and the feeling of paper between my fingers. i just want to live inside a bookstore.
Just watched a video where a woman writer shared how her mum came over to help. Her mum did all the housework, laundry, cooking, cleaning, and childcare so she could focus. During her mum’s stay, writer TRIPLED her daily word count.
Then she said something that hit hard.
Most men have this kind of support their entire lives. Next time you call a man productive, consider that.
Damn. Still letting it sink in.
I’ve met so many people who “hated history” in school because it was taught to them as a list of battle dates, but fell in love with it as adults when they read a witty, well-written historical biography.
History is not a list of dates; it’s about people.
The great thing about reading is that it allows you to live more than one life. You can be in Lorenzo De Medici’s Renaissance Tuscan villa or witness the fall of Troy without leaving your bed. You don’t need to travel; books allow you to cross space and time.
The ideal sleep time of 7-8 hours was based on studies conducted on men. It wasn’t discovered until recently that women produce almost all of their hormones while sleeping, unlike men who also produce hormones while awake. For women that process takes 9-10 hours.
