Do you know that the piece of pipe you see that's sticking up from ground by a trees base is a watering pipe. Please, in this dry time of year pour some water down it . Trees get thirsty also.
Just over twenty years ago . Solihull Wardens carried out their first project . To lay a hedge in Lea Wood in Solihull. To help celebrate The First National Hedge Row Week they have gone back to the hedge to start to regenerate it with new trees and fill the gaps.
Its the first National Hedgerow week soon 9th May To the 5th June and some of the Wardens have out "Filling the gaps" in a local wood ( lea Wood). Did you know that a Hedgerow is one our most easily encountered wildlife habitats? How many types of trees can you find in a hedge?
A lot of young trees were planted in 2020 . The problem now is that they have been forgotten. if you find some that are now being straggled by weeds and grass . and you have a spare minute or two. could you pull away the grass from base of the trees . this will help them survive.
