@thefanraid@Cairo_xprsk Divide first (div and multiply in the order they occur. In this case
Divide then multiply then subtract
FYI adding and subtracting also in the order they occur in the equation- left to right
@RayTrifari@SqSehrish Interesting take on the one half….so you divided by .5. Now it’s an English problem and not a math problem. Like so many math problems in my day. Soooooo I took it as 14 divided in half not by half….so I guess it now depends on how it SHOULD be read.
@DTOM357FAFO@Matt_Pinner like neither answer is correct sooooo you were not paying attention is high school
17-(7x2)+3
17-14+3
3+3
=6 (order of operations .... simple math)
@Richard11951543@Matt_Pinner The answer is 6 because you subtract before you add (add and subt in the order in which they occur)
17-14+3 (in this order) = 6
@PatriciaHeaton Someone said to me "too bad they missed" to me on the first ass**attempt! I said "well I personally do not wish anyone dead" whether I like them or not! So please, refrain from comments like that" ... We ended up having a pretty good conversation after! Patty, well said!
@rajusvin@sibaranm2@Arden_2210 Addition and Subtraction in the order in which they occur.... (same with multiplication and division, you do them in the order in which they occur)
So, you Subtract first in this case because it occurs first (after multiplying of course)
@GrootmanYakh@MetaphoricPoet@cnsrvtvlefty@Liza_6610 If using BEDMAS - Brackets first (there aren’t any) then Exponents next (again there aren’t any). Then Division&Multiplication in the order they are, Then Addition&Subtraction IN THE ORDER IN WHICH THEY OCCUR Thus:
Multiply first 5x3+15 then Subtract 6-15=-9 then Add -9+4=-5
