It's wild how the MCU is 4 movies in and Spider-Man is STILL dealing with coming to grips with being Spider-Man. For once I would just like Spider-Man to be Spider-Man and sure of himself instead of spending yet ANOTHER movie having an identity crisis
This is exactly a great example of what I meant by leftists being intellectually dishonest, as if those societies weren’t executing/maiming/exiling people or alternatively just being unable to catch violent criminals.
Prison abolition debates are hilarious because we have literally thousands of examples of societies without prisons (most of human history!) and 0 societies with these ideal Reformed Prisons the left-libs rave about, but the latter insist that the former are "utopians" lmao
Between this interview and the BAP review acknowledging the very obvious anti mass migration, pro western moral core to the film, hopefully the online right can finally start to thoughtfully engage with the most significant cultural victory they have ever scored (this film).
Homeless people IRL have phones that can connect to the global web and have access to all public knowledge in human history.
Having a 3d printer in the MCU is probs as easy as having an IPhone.
@SirClmnt Loss of sovereignty and yet we had a ridiculous amount of opt outs + Subsidiarity baked in by design.
I’m not saying there is no loss of sovereignty, but the idea that Britain’s massive potential was being held back by the EU is laughable today…
You can’t argue with the right because they’re anti intellectual. They don’t read or engage with art critically.
You can’t argue with the left because they’re intellectually dishonest. They know theory and and use it to argue in bad faith and shut down discourse.
I think we overtly blame conservatives for the increasing anti-intellectualism. I see how you guys engage with critique, leftists have their own part to play. Just a mess all round
Mandem are celebrating someone they don’t know beating a rape case with 3 other rape charges undecided like their homeboy came home after 10 years in jail. You lot need to do better
primark not allowing returns, exchanges, refunds or store credit for items after 28 days is the dumbest thing i’ve ever heard like what am i supposed to do with pants that don’t fit 😭😭😭 @Primark
@nataliajp13@MacabreMacaw His punishment specifically was getting lost for so many years + exile right? His men ended up sealing their own fate with the cow. Apart from him being the protag, he needed to live to realise his sins in an almost Prometheus type punishment IMO (Nolan likes that metaphor)
@mindofprospect@hxmza1 ‘Worth’.
And exactly what are you worth? And how did you imagine that is more than them? And where does that reflect in the price you and them are paying for gym membership?
@nataliajp13@MacabreMacaw Breaking down looks like. That’s why the carnival giants weren’t big brutes but had futuristic iron armour and set a trap. Because the narrow view of what civil means goes beyond technology and immediate presentation. Hence ‘go back to your disguises’ idk it feels apparent to me.
@nataliajp13@MacabreMacaw She looks unreasonable so long as you’re seeing the crew as completely reasonable men, yes. But the entire point of the emotional climax is to realise that they’re the sea people; the embodiment of civilisational collapse and destruction. The movie explores what civility-
@mindofprospect@hxmza1 They’re taking up space as much as someone doing more weight, if you want the machine for yourself at your disposal buy one from Ali express.
If I were really jaded I’d argue that therapy often serves the function of repressing and neutralising justifiable anger away from a broken society to internal individual or interpersonal failures before it can be redirected to change.
Good thing I’m not jaded!
I knew someone with an insane temper who got into therapy and they trained her to squeeze her disproportionate rage through a seething language filter, like "I'm just asking for accountability" (visibly furious) I found this much worse. She has fibromyalgia now, big surprise
If you’re young and ambitious, go private sector, build yourself up roll with the pressure and when you want to have a family and coast go public sector and get a good pension.
Do you guys prefer the private or public sector in terms of employers?
I think it all comes down to who your manager is and the companies culture at the end of the day
I remember when I got put on a PIP at work and my Bredrin started calling me PIP Guardiola until I came off it 🙃
She don’t even watch football like that btw
@nataliajp13@MacabreMacaw The thing is, Odysseus’ crew were non threatening to Circe in a somilar way that corporate execs/politicians in our time are non violent people. Yes nobody was going to rape or attack her then, but that doesn’t mean they have never done/participated in events that caused thatZ
