Favoritism has become a religion. Everyone wants better governance until the candidate is someone they know, love, or have personally benefited from.
I often wonder what becomes of our morals when we automatically become puppets simply because someone has been beneficial to us, or still is. How then can we genuinely hold leaders accountable for bad governance when personal relationships and personal benefits take precedence over principles?
It has become a disturbing norm. And perhaps the most frustrating part is how quickly some loyalists become triggered when simple questions are asked. Instead of providing answers or tangible reasons to justify their support, they respond with anger, turn the conversation into a fight, or resort to gaslighting.
If our support for people makes us incapable of questioning them, then what exactly are we defendinggood governance or personal loyalty?
We must learn to separate friendship from leadership, gratitude from accountability, and loyalty from blind allegiance. Support whoever you choose, but never surrender your conscience in the process. The moment we stop asking questions simply because we benefit from someone, we become part of the problem we claim to condemn.
Happy Independence Day, Nigeria ๐ณ๐ฌ and Happy New Month! May this new month bring us closer to the Nigeria we all deserve.

While watching the Sporting Lagos vs Barau FC NPFL match yesterday, I couldn't help but look at what was happening around TBS with over 60,000 people lining up for the Black Market movie. I was actually part of the crowd that went to Onikan to watch the match and still went to the movie at TBS later in the day. Sixty thousand is truly a crazy number and it completely destroys the lazy narrative that Lagosians don't support events.
Recently, Weโve seen an increase in local football attendance lately, which is great. But seeing 60k people turn up for a movie makes you realize that the gap isn't the setup as clubs already do great matchday packaging.
I think it boils down to one thing: FOMO.
Right now, an NPFL matchday is a great event, but a movie premiere or a major concert is an "unmissable culture moment." People go because they are terrified of being left out of the conversation. To hit that milestone, we have to transition the NPFL from a sporting event into a pop-culture phenomenon. It needs to become the place where you have to be seen on a weekend.
When going to watch local football becomes the ultimate status symbol for Lagos youth; where the content creators, the fashion crowd, and the music heads all gather; the stadium gates won't even be able to hold the crowd.
As a fan who truly loves this league, Iโm open to ideas on how we build that level of cultural FOMO around our matches to move the NPFL forward. Or honestly, is trying to compete with the entertainment industry just a lost cause?
I cried so much last night and this morning. I have seen lots of messages from different people about things I did for them at different times most of which I donโt even remember.
The truth is I have always believed in my heart that the only reason God has given to me is to give it back.
I think this is Godโs way of telling me to also be thankful!!! I have been thinking too much about what I lost instead of thanking God for seeing me through one of the hardest moments of my life.
I am used to always giving and hardly ever receiving because everyone thought I had in abundance. I have also always found it difficult to ask for help. Even if I had to borrow from anyone, I would always return with interest, even without them asking. But I was tested in ways I couldnโt understand these past few years. I asked for help everywhere and anywhere I could think of and I was on the verge of giving it all up!
I would mention his name but he would be really upset. God used one person to settle all that I owed! And this help came over and over again! I donโt think any sane person would do what he did for me without Godโs intervention!
So this is me also saying thank you Brother! And I will continue to do so again and again, privately and publicly! Thank you for giving me hope when I thought it was all over. I canโt help but think I have taken your love and kindness for granted but I want you to know that I am forever indebted to you.
To my closest people in the World (Mr Macaroni & Friends) Thank you for not neglecting me even when you had every reason to. Thank you for saving me ๐
To Don Jazzy, who has been giving me since my university days up till now, I thank you from the bottom of my heart for all you do, not just for me but for so many others!!! To my brother Victor Osimhen and Pastor Bolaji!!! Thank youuuu. ๐ค
I am in a better place! I am learning and doing things that make me happy. I donโt and will never regret anything I have ever done in my life to make the lives of others better in even the smallest way possible. However, I have learned a lot of lessons these past few years and I am grateful even for the trials and tribulations for which without them I wouldnโt have the clarity of mind I now have.
May the love in our hearts be forever greater than the hate in the world.
Thank you with all my heart. ๐ค
