Our firefighters were dispatched to 5327 Hunter Road this afternoon at 1:11pm following multiple calls regarding a house on fire. As units began to respond, they reported heavy black smoke from several miles away.
A mutual aid alarm was sent to Highway 58 Volunteer Fire Department & @ChattFireDept for additional manpower on the scene. Bradley County Fire and Rescue & Catoosa County Fire Department responded to our stations for coverage while we worked this incident.
Our 2026 Recruit School is officially underway! These recruits are beginning a challenging and rewarding journey built on discipline, teamwork, and service. Over the next few months, they’ll be pushed physically and mentally to earn the title of firefighter.

Today the department was honored to recognize an extraordinary milestone — 50 years of service as Chief! Duane Pitts has served as Chief of the department since 1975 (before many of its current firefighters were born).
Crews responded to a single vehicle accident on the 11000 block of Apison Pike. One patient was transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The road will be closed for an extended period of time.

Just a reminder that there was NO BURNING allowed today due to dry and windy conditions. Crews responded earlier to a woods fire on Misty Valley Road in Collegedale. Fortunately, they were able to quickly get it under control and extinguish it.
@ChattanoogaAir Pollution Control Bureau has temporarily banned all outdoor burning due to dry, windy conditions. Violators could face potential fines.
At the request of the 11th Judicial District Attorney General Coty Wamp, TBI Special Agents are investigating an officer-involved shooting that occurred Tuesday afternoon a residence on Rising Fawn Lane in Ooltewah.

At 6:15pm on February 25, the department was alerted to respond for a police standby assignment on Rising Fawn Place in district 5. Our law enforcement partners were on the scene of a tactical incident that was going to have the potential to need fire department services.
