This is a compilation of videos circulating online of women raging or hurting their kids or staring blankly into space while holding their infants, claiming: "I'm so mentally unwell I can't even care for my child, and this is how common postpartum depression is. Many of these posts are tagged with #PPDawareness, pushing the narrative that women have always suffered like this in silence, and that this level of severe instability is just "how common suffering actually is."

If this new "awareness" successfully convinces the world that motherhood is an inherently dangerous state that drives women to violent hair-trigger rage or total dysfunction, what does that mean for women?

How do we keep children and society safe? Should every woman undergo mandatory psychiatric screening before becoming a mother? Should new mothers be barred from returning to work, or forbidden from serving as doctors, judges, or police officers if they take antidepressants? If women are painted as a demographic capable of snapping without warning and that this is widespread and previously hidden you are describing a group of people no society could safely trust with authority or responsibility.

This isn't genuine advocacy, I doubt they care about Clancy or her kids, look how easily they harm their own. This is the aggressive protection of victimhood status. Many supporters of Lindsay Clancy are pushing so hard against the evidence because they are terrified of the alternative: a woman being held legally responsible rather than excused as a "victim of biology."

The core premise of this radical ideology is that every woman is inherently capable of greatness, and if she fails or harms her child, she must be a helpless victim of her biology or society. Every woman is loving and if she isn’t- society is asking too much of her. Except this is what women are made to do.

If your goal is to protect women's parental autonomy, you cannot take the normal stress and sacrifice we all experience as mothers and elevate it to postpartum rage, psychosis, and depression. Extreme postpartum conditions are just not as common as social media trends make them out to be, and sacrificing accountability to gain victimhood status for an imaginary collective identity - women- will do a lot of harm to your own cause and to everyone.

When someone tells me their pronouns in the dialogue for no story reason, I turn it off.

When "systemic racism" gets lectured about in a fantasy/sci-fi/historical setting, I turn it off.

When the male lead is portrayed as incompetent, toxic, or needing constant correction by women, I turn it off.

When they add a "diverse" character who's only there to check boxes and has no personality, I turn it off.

When every romantic couple is interracial or same-sex by default, I turn it off.

When they rewrite classic stories to make the woman the savior instead of the man, I turn it off.

When the man goes to couples counseling or therapy, I turn it off.

When the cops/authority figures are all female, I turn it off.

When the angry teenage girl curses out her parents, I turn it off.

When a woman beats up the male lead in an action movie, I turn it off.

Whenever a tiny woman starts fighting—and winning—against a much bigger man, I turn it off.

When the female soldier effortlessly takes down the male soldier, I turn it off.

These red flags have saved me hours of painful watching and waiting for the story to happen.

This Daryl Keith Holton.

On November 30, 1997, in Shelbyville, Tennessee, Holton shot his four children—Stephen (12), Brent (10), Eric (6), and Kayla (4) two at a time in his garage.

Holton was diagnosed with Major Depressive Disorder and psychosis.

He was a military veteran who had been suffering from PTSD.

Both sides acknowledged he was deeply afflicted with mental illness.

It didn't matter.

The jury deliberated for 50 minutes and handed down a death sentence.

He died via the electrocution in 2007.

Men didn't line the streets in support. They didn't do heart shaped hands. They didn't donate $1 million.
