@DoloresGMorris Central Air just did a pretty good episode on AI. Good guest (Mike Solana), interesting points of disagreement among the hosts (Josh Barro, Megan McCardle, Ben Dreyfuss). Nobody on a hypetrain or a sales pitch.
@maxyyjones@AmericanGwyn Sure, but I think you miss the point of my analogy. Just because all pieces of art are affected by those MCs, that doesn't mean that addressing those factors is equally useful in analyzing all pieces of art. Like weather, you MCs are more interesting in some cases than in others.
@AmericanGwyn@maxyyjones All art is produced under certain weather conditions. In that sense, all art is weather-related. But that doesn't mean that weather is equally important to understanding art. Weather is more relevant to JMW Turner than to Mark Rothko.
@AmericanGwyn@maxyyjones If the term "political" encompasses "all material conditions," then it becomes devoid of meaning. It would be synonymous with saying, "This art exists." I think that when people say "Art is political," they're trying to say something else than that. Don't you?
@dwlz In a subjective test, the degree of difficulty lies in the method of evaluation. I'd have to know a lot more about how the test is graded to understand exactly how hard it would be for me, and why. What are the graders looking for in a passing answer?
@HistoryBoomer No, but not because I care about the roaches. It's because the poison could have unintended negative consequences, like maybe hurting my cats. Also, I just don't get bothered much by bugs in my house, as long as they're not ruining my food or eating the walls.
@tessajoliver@thechrisweaver@Kekius_Sage Also, it's a subtle theme, but everyone who treats droids as persons worthy of respect is a good guy, and everyone who treats them as disposable objects is a bad guy. Some people, like Luke and Han, become better about this as they grow.
@IntractableLion@selentelechia@Shadow_Rebbe@justalexoki Yep. I personally know at least four people who have seen mountain lions in Missouri. And they're not crazy wilderness campers either, just seen em out on bike trails and stuff. And yet the population is allegedly zero.
