For clarity, I'm not saying he didn't figure out what it was long before 2025.
I'm saying it's entirely plausible that he got it not knowing what it was, and a combination of laziness, edginess, and poverty kept him from getting covered up.
I once knew a guy who named his pitbull ISIS because she was the Egyptian god of fertility or some shit. Doesn't make him a terrorist.
Very similar dude to Platner. Piss dirty while on probation, whine about his "bad luck". Did that guy belong in the Senate? Hell yeah if he votes against kicking people off Medicaid.
@TECleveland @cremieuxrecueil Despite some bogus grants, a lot of government is like this cartoon. I bet this "small team" would find a line item for "screwworm sterilization" and delete it, not knowing that they just devastated American farming: https://t.co/OAnAkxDSEK
@jons6111@zeezytaughtmii@lionel_trolling I apologize for my unfamiliarity with Croatian tattoo parlors, but I have no clue.
Was this drunk group of Marines supposed to see this theoretical display, be deeply offended, and go find another tattoo parlor?
I don't know what to tell you. I don't get my knowledge of Nazi symbols from carefully studying Nazi uniforms, but from people who claim to be Nazis sporting those symbols, usually on the news at pro-Trump rallies or 4chan. Maybe prison movies?
Maybe you know the fourth and fifth most common Nazi symbols too. I'm not that guy, neither is the vast majority of Maine, and I suspect the vast majority of people criticizing Platner for not knowing "this is a special skull and crossbones" aren't either.
@GhostofRose45@damintoell I have no idea what you're talking about. There's no SS on that collar in the picture. It's just a far more common and well known symbol.
I almost stopped reading three sentences in. I didn't know it was a Nazi symbol until I heard about it from him, and I'm old enough to have watched the History Channel when it was "All WWII, All The Time".
That said, he is absolutely an unserious buffoon. These guys are SO exhausting and never get much done.
@sacklunchfan@damintoell Oh, he definitely figured it out some time between after he got it and 2025. I'm just saying it's totally reasonable he didn't know when he got it.
AGAIN, you think he knew it was a Nazi symbol when he took his shirt off at a Jewish wedding?
Here he is at a seder.
@SophiaLee42@bethbourdon None of these people are going to be hurt by GOP holding the Senate. People are going to get kicked off Medicaid and die because of these people. Kids are going to die of measles because RFK Jr was confirmed. Doesn't matter to them.
It's plausible he didn't know what the tattoo was when he got it. I mean, that picture with his shirt off is from a Jewish wedding. Here's a picture of him at a seder I think.
I think he definitely figured it out later and was too lazy to fix it, though.
All the crazy stuff he wrote on reddit and there's no antisemitic or neo-Nazi stuff?
I think it's too early to say he's definitely going to lose, especially given that Maine voters have rejected two other candidates in the Dem primary. Have you actually seen what Maine sees - interviews and ads for him? Or have you just seen stuff on X?
That said, what a fuckup... This should have been a slam dunk and instead Dems are spending money and time defending this guy instead in other places, and it's also introducing a candidate that could be hurting us nationwide, like Herschel Walker and Kari Lake in 2022.
