overthinking is gendered. women overthink because they know in their bones that there might be consequences if they don't. they have known it since they were little girls. they have known it so well that it has become a second skin, an inseparable part of their being.
When I was younger, I rebelled against the idea that cooking was something I was obligated to do. As I grow older, I’ve begun to fear that if I don’t learn my grandmother’s and mother’s recipes, I’ll lose the flavours I love most. Both of these things can be simultaneously true.
