@CJTDevil obviously he was all these things the first two years here but the first 8 or so games he was not really doing any of this + was pretty much late to every puck and was turning it over all over the ice.
@CJTDevil to be fair part of why his first lineup shuffles make sense is because his first lines didn't make much sense. i also didn't think cotter-hughes-bratt made sense.
@CJTDevil turns out jack is basically getting no faceoff starts at all and with his faceoff inability this makes sense
but yeah hughes has been lousy, no question
@CJTDevil you're underestimating how bad the bottom pair has been, though (and that putting jack with timo is bad, a lesson every coach will have to learn while those guys are on the same team together)
@CJTDevil the alternative is calling up misyul/colton white and getting one of these guys out of the lineup (probably nemec) but yeah R-R just does not work, and i don't see the fix until hughes returns
@MrsFischoeder Islanders always seem to be in there, always seem to get more out of their team than I think, not sure they have the talent to win 4 playoff series but they have the cohesion (and Butchie's still going). I like Colorado
@CJTDevil this is how most previously unknown injuries are reported before camp. the team shows up and then maybe one or two of them show up hurt. jason robertson is one example from this season. was fitzgerald supposed to call a presser in early september about this
@JasonMacIsaac eh he had two other chances and couldn't make it there either, i think the ship has sailed on him, even as much as i love players like the goose
also he would be taking a massive pay cut to come to north america
@CJTDevil absolutely have never understood the palat hate but the trouble is that he's underperforming the deal in years 1 and 2 which is usually trouble for years 3 4 and 5.
but yeah if anything they need more palats, not fewer
@CJTDevil nah. different stuff entirely. either a D knows to be the goalie's burly protector or not, bahl wasn't totally absent from that role but he just didn't understand the necessity of physical intimidation even if he threw a lot of hits
@CJTDevil eh, this isn't a veteran thing, it's just do you do this stuff or not. okhotiuk did it imo. veterans will obviously be savvier with it (unless they are brendan smith), but it's not something learned - if anything a guy like daneyko had to unlearn it a bit to stay out of the box
@CJTDevil bahl threw a lot of hits but i would argue he did not know when to get in guys' faces. he wasn't constantly menacing opposing forwards around the crease. i think that's what they'll get out of dillon (paying for it is maybe not the best idea though)
