Trooper Goerdt in Dubuque County stopped these cars for excessive speed. One of the drivers in addition, failed to have a driver's license, registration or insurance. These speeds are not only a danger to the driver but to everyone else on the roadway.
On Thursday May 14th I was able to team up with Oelwein PD and head out to Camp Ewalu and teach kids about firearm safety. The kids were also able to see some of the cool equipment law enforcement get to use. Such a fun day!
On Friday, May 8th Iowa State Patrol post 10, Delaware county, Dyersville PD and Fire came together to Beckman Catholic School and held a Mach crash scene to educate students on the dangers of unsafe driving habits. I believe a huge impact was made on this group of kids!
Had a great time speaking to 1st - 4th grade students from Oelwein Friday for the Agriculture and Safety day. We talked about the importance of Internet safety!
April is distracted driving awareness month. In 2024, distracted driving killed 3208 people. Let's all do our part to remain vigilant and avoid distractions while driving.
On Friday March 13th, Trooper Baumgartner stopped this vehicle for 111 in a 65 on Highway 20, Delaware County. The driver was attempting to race another vehicle. Driver was also charged with open container and possession of marijuana. Thanks for getting this driver off the road!
Trooper Schmelzer was able to stop this vehicle for driving 102 in a 65 on Highway 20 in Buchanan County last week. We continue to see vehicles driving way too fast. Please, drive safe out there!
Troopers from Post 10 collected gifts for the Toys for Tots fundraiser. They were donated to Helping Services for Youth & Families in Decorah today. Thanks for all the donations!
The Iowa State Patrol was busy as the first snow fell across the State. Thankful we have a group of men and women out there willing to provide valuable services to those in a time of need!!
Last Wednesday we made a stop in to St. Patrick Catholic School in Waukon. We shared about stranger danger and some safety tips for trick or treating this Friday!!
It is National School Bus Safety week. It's a good reminder for all drivers out there to slow down when you see yellow lights and come to a stop for red lights. Our kids safety depends on it!
Trooper's from Post 10 made a lunch stop at Central Community School District Wednesday in Elkader. Kids were a little surprised to see who was serving lunch!!
On October 16th, members of the Iowa State Patrol, Manchester Police Department and Delaware County Sheriff's office were able to serve lunch at St. Mary's School in Manchester. Always so much fun getting to interact with the youth in our local communities!
