Listened to the new Kevin Morby and Kurt Vile LPs today. Would give a slight edge to the latter, but didn't really connect with either. Probably a me problem.
Bob Dylan, who turns 85 today, is a fine lyricist, put out a few very decent records, and is one of the worst singers ever to hit the top 5.
The Byrds got to number 1 with Mr. Tambourine Man (a good song!) because he couldn't sing and they could.
@RoughTrade Leonard Cohen singing "So Long, Marianne" at the Brighton Center, 2013. Even the teleprompter he was squinting at couldn't diminish the majesty of that performance.
