From a distance, I am seeing many of my American friends and followers getting psyop'd into the 'race war' narrative.
It seems obvious that a tiny number of agitators are trying to make this a thing again.
You don't have to take the bait every. single. time.
@ardalis@covid_clarity@NPR How did all those people get wealth? Families before them worked hard to get where they are? So we're not going to allow people to be rewarded for their efforts?
@NPR Lol. Mathew Desmond. The joker who has been widely discredited via pulitizer prize winning economists for using debunked info. And also cherry picking. That's right, cherry picking - the same crime you accused Tucker Carlson of doing last week. Bwahahahahah! So delicious.
@NPR Oh? So you think that $ would actually go toward “pulling people out of poverty?” No it would go to pet projects and the useless $ pit that is #UkraineRussiaWar️. These types of articles are useless
@FrankHumphreys@NPR Maybe the government should stop spending money on projects that mutilate children. I'm referring to the large transgender push that's happening in our schools right now these poor children are going to wake up one day with their breasts cut off
This is so misleading, it borders on criminal.
"If the top 1% paid the taxes that owed" is deliberate mis-information. Who says they don't? The IRS apparently feels they pay their due taxes. Otherwise, there would be legal action taken.
"That is just about enough to pull everyone out of poverty" is more mis-information. There is no such number. People don't get out of poverty with money in their pocket. They get out with jobs, training, life style changes, other programs, and sometimes also with money in their pocket.
The author makes the valid point about a decline in federal poverty spending. If there were more federal tax revenue, it would be spent on expanded non-poverty programs, just as it has for years. Tax revenues are up. Where is the matching increase in poverty spending?
The US has poverty for many reasons. One of those is deliberate federal policy decisions to direct money elsewhere.
@NPR Princeton sociologist apparently doesn't read tax law. Otherwise he'd know that they do pay the taxes that they owe... according to the current tax codes. Don't like it.. change the codes.
@NPR Riiiiggghhhhtt! As if politicians actually intend to end poverty. It's THEIR endless cash cow, as are wars, homelessness, drugs and every imaginable vice. They profit while gaslighting that it's because they are doing good. Bunch of nonsense.
@NPR It's not the rich who are preventing our government from ending poverty. It's a lack of political will. The US creates its own currency. The rich don't. Lack of taxing the 1% isn't stopping us from ending poverty with universal basic income. Congress is.

@Commercial4t@duncnasty@wwflygirl@NPR An EBT card is government assistance right? So you're saying they can go spend on frivolous stuff. Maybe it was a one-off we don't really know but an EBT card is government assistance
@NPR If they owe the money and don’t pay it then they should go to jail. Your story intentionally misleading. They don’t owe the money because the system is rigged from the very top. Try actual journalism. You’ll be amazed what happens when you stop lying for a living
