If the Govt believes that the threat of UAPA, NSA or years behind bars will scare us into silence, it won’t. We are prepared to face whatever comes our way and, if necessary, spend months or years in jail, but we will not back off from our fight to save democracy.

We follow the path shown by Mahatma Gandhi, and we will continue to resist peacefully and non-violently, no matter how much the State tries to intimidate us.

The government is planning on arresting me, Abhijeet, Ashutosh, Ratna and other Cockroach Janta Party leaders.

If the government thinks that such dictatorial actions will work, then they are mistakened! The young generation has awakened. We appeal to everyone to continue fighting for our rights and future, with or without us. We have always been ready to face the jail or worse. But this will be a big mistake. The young will not tolerate this.

Razia Sultana, the wife of 45-year-old Sahid Akhtar, who was killed in a mob attack in the Matigara-Bagdogra area of Siliguri following suspicion of cattle theft, has demanded justice for her husband.

On Sunday, Razia lodged a complaint at Bagdogra Police Station against those allegedly involved in the attack.

Akhtar, a resident of Sonapur under Chopra Police Station in Uttar Dinajpur district, was one of two men who died after locals allegedly attacked a group of five people in the early hours of Saturday. Another victim, Shad Mohammad of Haryana, later died while undergoing treatment. Three others were injured in the violence.

Siliguri, West Bengal: Two people were killed and three others injured in a mob attack over suspected cattle theft near Bagdogra. The deceased have been identified as Md Sahid Akhtar and Shah Mahammad. One person died on the spot, and another succumbed to injuries. Decades ago I was an #ERO. Never saw any form-7 objection. Then, our objective was to ensure every adult was included in the electoral roll.
Legal experts have to answer query regarding the ‘locus standi’ of the ‘objector’ filing Form-7 👇🏼. Since Form 7 objection can only be filed by a person whose name is already on the electoral roll of the same constituency, it’s assumed it’s in the spirit of ‘good citizenship’.
It was never meant to be abused or misused, the way #CEC Gupta has weaponised.
Moreover, #ERO must be ‘satisfied’ that the credentials of objector are legitimate and there is a prima facie substance to the objection before accepting the Form-7 objector. Thereafter, ERO has to conduct an enquiry, after issuing notice to and giving an opportunity to the person whose inclusion in the electoral roll is being ‘objected to’ and pass a ‘reasoned order’. This is a quasi judicial process. Deletion or non-inclusion merely because some random guy filed form-7 without due process is patently illegal. Such a deletion directly by #CEC using @TCS designed app is blatant abuse of authority.

Indian authorities have demolished a mosque in Saharanpur, Uttar Pradesh, following a court ruling. The case was filed by a member of a Hindu nationalist group.

Mosque authorities say the building dates back to 1911. Rights groups are questioning the legality of the decision.
