Here is short story about BoardRepo:

About two months ago, @tihenko_ had a random idea: "using GitHub for PCBs is so annoying, let's build GitHub for PCBs and call it BoardRepo lol"

I thought it was some bullshit idea. GitHub exists. Why would anyone use a separate place just for electronics.

He shipped it anyway and showed me. As an EE, it was life-changing. So much simpler and more straightforward, a zip file becomes a link and everything can be done in browser. I could imagine myself using it everyday.

So I randomly took some screenshots and shared about it on X, and it went crazy! 400k+ views and 600+ reposts in one just night.

We thought it was just another X hype, and abandoned it for weeks. But people kept coming back. Emailing us to fix bugs, to make the UI better, to add features. And we understood we were onto something real, and it is time to put full focus on it.

@tryBoardRepo has now had over 20k unique visitors and thousands of people using it every week. And we know that there is still a long way to make this the best product for us EEs.

I'll be starting a more focused group chat to bring all the cool people together, get feedback and make friends. DM if you want to be part of it 🫶

@tryBoardrepo just churned 100% today morning…

Yesterday we were upgrading our servers to serve the massive influx of new users. Today morning, I woke up and saw almost no events in PostHog except some background tasks and MCP usage. I thought we have some critical bug and fully churned during the night.

I almost got happy that we can finally pivot into AI-native Uber for Microducks, but sadly it turned out to be just misconfiguration of the new firewall and analytics requests couldn’t go through.

So no, we didn’t churn. And yes, feel free to steal the pivot idea as it seems like we’ll have to continue working on @tryBoardrepo
