A Navy promotion board picked the best officers for the job. The eminently mediocre Pete Hegseth, overruled them. Result: zero women promoted to admiral this year β first time in over a decade. Meritocracy is the first casualty in Hegseth's pitiful war on "wokeness."
@ggreenwald The Strait of Hormuz has been freely open for international shipping throughout recorded modern history β effectively for as long as global oil trade has depended on it. Probably over $1 trillion to end up with the same open door.
@FoxNews Only someone who has never been a teacher could say anything more ignorant about them. My kids went to schools all over the country and overseas. The only thing remotely political I ever heard was an asinine claim the Kennedy would be a Republican if he were alive today.
Vizzini: "Have you heard of Plato, Aristotle, Socrates?"
Westley: "Yes."
Vizzini: "Morons."
Marc Andreessen, basically, in 2026.
Also: the AI model Anthropic was too nervous to release.

@Johnny_Joey Well-meaning friends have told me things like, "Shoot first, ask questions later," and "Better to be judged by twelve than carried by six." Good advice, for cowards.
U.S. oil production metrics (active rigs, new wells drilled) decreased in the first Trump administration and have declined again in the second Trump administration. You are waging a war on truth, Stephen.
If the Democrat war on American fossil fuel had been allowed to prevail America would be totally subservient to foreign nations.
If the Democrat war on American fossil fuel was not being waged America would be totally independent of foreign nations.
@azsweetheart013 Don't drop your guard when throwing a punch at Amy.

They all try to scold you
Now there's no one to console you
When you don't get your way"

@TimSheehyMT You are probably right. They did plan; it's just that the National Command Authority did such a horrible job of it that it APPEARS that they've been caught with their pants around their ankles. Sort of like tariffs and Ag markets.
@SenTomCotton They certainly didn't plan effectively. I trust our military at the tactical and operational levels, but not the National Command Authority at the strategic level. President decides capriciously and SecDef is focused on company 1stSgt or Bn SgtMaj issues. All else is beyond him.
This Armageddon BS from military leaders actually makes me more angry from my perspective as a Christian as a retired Marine Corps officer. Tying this rhetoric to Christianity and to the military damages both and is counter to any sane principle of theology or leadership.
