Gallup reports 89% in the U.S. say corruption in govt is widespread. It’s one of the few things Rs, Ds and Independents agree on. But SCOTUS makes it tough to combat and legislators are like foxes guarding the chicken coop. If a nation can’t combat this, it can’t be successful.

We've hosted several exchange students mostly from Central Asia area, but also South Asia and Africa and China. Every one of them has been amazed at the grocery stores here. Most commenting specifically about how perfect our fruit and vegetables are, but also about the selection and amount of things on the shelves. So yes, many people do find it notable, even in the 2020s. And covid showed us just how quickly it can all just disappear. It doesn't happen by accident.

I think people who have individual liberty as their guiding star AND uphold that consistently (rather than only when it serves their tribe) have to think through their principles more thoroughly than those who wish to impose their own views on everybody else.

I usually dislike speed cameras. I accept that there should be a law but think that appropriate speeds are determined much more by road conditions than by posted signs, and notice that almost everyone speeds a lot in many places where posted speeds are too low.

I do not trust the government to set speeds efficiently, and I resent being punished for maintaining the flow of traffic, particularly in areas where I���m passing through for the first time and get surprised by unknown traffic cameras. I do not think most speeding should be ticketed.

I strongly prefer speed laws be enforced by humans with discretion and judgment who can tell the difference between someone recklessly weaving between every narrow gap and someone going 15 over on a straight, empty stretch of highway with no real danger to others present.
