I've decided to abandon twitter/X/whatever this place is, but I don't know where my game dev presence will be going forward! If I figure it out, I'll update, but if you're someone I know professionally, then do find me on LinkedIn for now!
I don't know what to do about this beyond "vote with your money" but so may of these platforms don't have a real competitor. You want to talk about monopolies, look at Google, Twitter, Meta, Disney. What alternatives are any of us supposed to go to?
We've reached a point where creators can't show historic photos, like Nick Ut's famous photo from the Vietnam War, on sites like YouTube without being demonetized, and that's an unbelievably dangerous thing.
We can't talk about suicide. We can't honestly discuss historical events. We can't share the images that inspired people to stand against humanitarian crises.
The mission to make everything palatable is making it easier and easier for bad actors to get away with horrors.
Ai art is getting really good we all need to focus a lot less on βthe hands look badβ and a lot more on βIβm not interested in something not made by a personβ because Iβll still hate an ai artwook that looks visually like a flawless piece
(Some categories: Work (job), Projects (personal), Outside Errands (like groceries), Dependent (cat/car in my case) Tasks, Social, House (chores), Bodily Upkeep (like eating), Relaxation (like consuming media), etc etc, but remember i can only be good at 2 at any given time.)
You ever see a thing that completely encapsulates your lives experience and while being seen and not alone is reassuring the fact that you still, after all this time, donβt have a solution makes you want to transcend physical form?
It's definitely a major pain to constantly struggle to get started with tasks,
but can we talk about how this means ADHD'ers are out here burning through all our executive function points at work and then not having any left to function outside of work?
Anyhow, all of this to say: oof oof oof and i do wish things were different
( i have since washed the dishes, among other chores, but it required ditching all other types of tasks for 24 hours, including feeding myself. Bodily Upkeep is a separate category than House.)
I *knew* this was gonna start happening. It doesn't often get called drag, but gender fuckery and transformation are a chunk of the cosplay world so this was inevitable collateral.
Con better grow a spine quick. Stop rolling over for bigots or take your business out of Florida.
This. This is why "mindfulness" is actually VERY IMPORTANT FOR US.
"mindfulness" is one of the only ways to learn what your brain is doing.
Quick thread on ADHD and mindfulness and meditation:
Everyone reeling from the discovery that you were only motivated by fear and now have no idea how to motivate yourself, let me just say this here in one place:
Your inner child knows.
Ask them to remind you how to play, which is the natural and default state for ADHD brains.
Hey, you -- yeah, with the ADHD and the cool projects! You know how all of those projects are, like, 80% done? And how you can't figure out how to get them over the line? And how frustrating that is?
The following thread contains an infohazard, proceed at your peril! ;)
And the worst part is that not only do you spend all of your time doing this endless series of tasks.
The worst part is the opportunity cost. All of the things you don't get to learn, the questions you don't get to ask, the thoughts you don't get to think.
Think about that. ADHD people who heal their trauma and their relationship to panic and anxiety and shame *suddenly find themselves unable to do their jobs or focus on their responsibilities*. Why?
Because fear was all that was motivating them. They have to relearn how to want.
