A game of 2 halves yesterday at Minsmere with @DavidWalsh22! A relaxed morning around the heath and scrape turned into an afternoon of raptor madness! Pallid Harrier and 2 White Tailed Eagles! Although they were all high and distant at times, it was an unreal experience!
After many heard only attempts in the past few years, I was delighted to have had some fab views of the Lesser Spotted Woodpecker at Santon Downham this morning.
I visited a cold, windy, Welney yesterday, hoping to see the Red-crested Pochard that had recently arrived. It took a focussed hour scanning to find, finally drifting out of its distant reedy hideout before sailing right below me at Lyle Hide. Phew, what a cracker of a quacker!
Spot the Dipper! On my 3rd attempt, I caught up with the Black Bellied Dipper at Bintree Mill this afternoon. A Norfolk tick for me and a very satisfying bird to see!
A thoroughly enjoyable day on the snowy Suffolk coast! Highlights were Temminck's Stint, Spotted Redshank, Bittern, Goosander, Zitting Cisticola, and Snow Buntings. Many snowball fights with @NoahBai14527125 throughout the day, too!

A thoroughly uplifting day up the coast. The snow threatened to ruin things at one stage but in the end it proved to be a real bonus. Thanks to the @Westleton_Crown for saving the day at lunchtime!
Great to catch up with friends in a snowy Suffolk today. Highlights were Temminck's Stint, Spotted Redshank, Bittern, Water Pipit and Snow Buntings in the snow. @DavidWalsh22@Elliott81758817@TSbirding
Great day today in North Norfolk with @TSbirding@NoahBai14527125 Highlights being: EBR, ‘The bean goose sp’, WFG, PFG, Male HH🤩, HLW (heard), Male RBM, Kingfisher, 2 Crane and tawny owl. Shame to miss out on the BWK but overall good day 😁
Fantastic day out in Norfolk with @TSbirding and @BSbirding. Highlights were the Black-winged Kite, Eastern Black Redstart, Bean Goose, Hen Harrier, White-fronted Geese, Snow Bunt, Crane, Tawny Owl and more!
Happy New Year! A bit of a local day today. Black Winged Kite first thing, followed by dipping everything bar Eider on Filby Broad. Loads of Crane throughout the day and both wild swans. Finished at the Black Winged Kite again and had unreal views of it before going to roost!
Fantastic day in Norfolk today, starting with the Black-winged Kite at Ludham Bridge, then the stunning Eastern Black Redstart and a Puffin at Sheringham, and ending with a Hen Harrier at Warham Greens! @MisterJamesP8@TSbirding
After yesterday's dip, I was grateful that the Black Winged Kite was still present today and had some good views of it at St Benets Abbey this morning. Nice to see @MisterJamesP8 and @MisterThomasP too.
Had a very successful day in Suffolk today with @DavidWalsh22. Water Pipit at Minsmere, then followed by this drake Smew at Carlton Marshes. 4 years on from when I first met David at Minsmere. Finished off at Kessingland with 100+ Snow Buntings and a Jack Snipe.
I have enjoyed some local birding recently. Yesterday, I went down to Barton Broad and was pleased to see this Slavonian Grebe well. Also, up to 20 Goldeneye.
Just got back from a superb week in the Netherlands. Had to go back for seconds of the Spectacled Eider and had unbelievable views of it, albeit in eclipse. Purple Swamphen was a welcome sight on the way to the Hook of Holland.
