Speaking during the closing ceremony of the 49th KESSHA Annual Conference 2026 today, TSC Chairman Dr. Jamleck Muturi John, EBS, reaffirmed the Government’s unwavering commitment to transforming education through increased funding, teacher promotions and the full implementation of Competency-Based Education (CBE).

He further emphasized the critical role of principals in strengthening schools, fostering collaborative leadership, and nurturing competencies that prepare learners for a dynamic future.

The closing ceremony was graced by Dr. Julius Migos Ogamba, Cabinet Secretary for Education, Mr. John Lekakeny Ololtuaa, Principal Secretary for Basic Education and members of the National Assembly Departmental Committee on Education Hon. Peter Ochieng Orero (MP, Kibra) and Hon. Harrison Garama Kombe (MP, Magarini) alongside other distinguished stakeholders from across the education sector.

During her address at the 49th KESSHA Annual Conference 2026 held in Mombasa, TSC Ag. CEO, Ms. Evaleen Mitei, MBS, underscored the central role of education as a powerful driver of national development, social transformation, and economic growth.

She emphasized that the success of education reforms in Kenya depends not only on sound policy formulation, but also on effective implementation by institutions entrusted with delivering educational services.

Ms. Mitei reaffirmed the commitment by the Teachers Service Commission to:

✅ Align its policies with national and global education frameworks
✅ Strengthen teacher capacity under Competency-Based Education (CBE) through continuous retooling
✅ Promote accountability, professionalism and ethical standards through performance management systems
✅ Ensure equitable distribution of teachers for optimal utilization

These initiatives support a broader vision focused on:

Today the Teachers Service Commission engaged with the State Department of Diaspora Affairs in seeking opportunities for teachers to teach outside the country.

​In attendance were the PS State Department of Diaspora Affairs Roseline Njogu, CBS, Amb. Isaiya Kabira, Secretary for Diaspora Investments, Skills and Entrepreneurship, TSC Chairperson Dr. Jamleck Muturi John, EBS, TSC Ag. Chief Executive Officer, Ms.Evaleen Mitei, MBS, TSC Director Staffing, Ms.Antonina Lentojoini and TSC Deputy Director, Policy Planning, Research, Data and Innovation (PPRDI) Mr. Clement Kabuti among others.

The TSC Ag. CEO highlighted the journey in development of the Commission's policy on teacher engagement outside Kenya, that was developed in 2024.
