Western discourse about the ceasefire is so full of double standards it truly boggles the mind.
The West insists that Hamas must be disarmed because of October 7... but if we accept this logic we surely must conclude that Israel, which has committed *actual genocide for two years running*, must also be disarmed, and even more urgently.
The West insists that Hamas cannot have any role in governance of Gaza (irrespective of whatever the wishes of people in Gaza may be). But again, if we accept this logic then Netanyahu, Likud and the other parties that govern Israel, which again committed *actual genocide*, must also be forcibly removed and debarred from governance.
The West insists that Palestinians must be "deradicalized". How could this possibly not apply a thousand times more to Israeli society, which has actively conducted and supported the genocide with little to no dissent?
In other words, even by the West's own logic, leaving aside all other aspects of international law, we should disarm Israel, forcibly remove its government, and impose deradicalization on Israeli society in order to prevent it from posing any further threat.
AOC just called out Trump for manipulating the stock market “Donald Trump is a criminal. A criminal found guilty of 34 felony counts of fraud. Of course he’s lying and manipulating the stock market too!” Boom.
Oh my god. Donald Trump’s audio was caught on this video explaining that his billionaire friends made billions yesterday with tariffs and stock market manipulation. The SEC needs to investigate.
There is a pattern here no one should ignore. Police across the West – the UK, Germany, France, Canada, Switzerland, the US – are locking people up, most especially journalists, for upsetting the feelings of those who support what the world's highest court has ruled is a plausible genocide.
Isn't that kind of democracy called a police state?
Imagine the media coverage if there were pictures of Putin proudly occupying a home in Kyiv after expelling a Ukrainian family.
How is this not newsworthy?
Israel carried out a massive attack in the West Bank today and I can’t find a story about it in the New York Times or BBC.
Probably the two most prominent media outlets in the Western world do not think this ⬇️ is newsworthy.
If your response to a 2 year old Palestinian child being killed with a bullet to the head *in the West Bank* is to cry ‘But Hamas’ or ‘But October 7th’ you’re a racist, a sociopath, and a genocide apologist. It’s that simple.
I’m on the Lebanese border with occupied Palestine. Israeli forces are not withdrawing and have massacred civilians attempting to return to their homes. So far today 4 dead and 41 wounded.
This is what they meant by ‘there was a ceasefire on October 6th.’
Israel can kill Palestinians and it’s still called a ‘ceasefire,’ as long as no one fights back.
Israel just wiped out an entire civilian neighborhood in Lebanon, violated Security Council resolution SCR 1701, the ceasefire agreement, and international law with absolutely no consequences.
This is another war crime and the International Criminal Court remains silent.
Sky News, "How are you feeling?"
Dr Ghassan Abu-Sittah, "Most of the people I know in Gaza are searching through the rubble of their homes for the bodies of their loved ones"
"My colleagues in the health system are making their way back to the ruins of the different hospitals to see how we can start rebuilding the health system"
"Over 950 health workers have been killed by Israel in this genocidal war, we remember their bravery"
"Doctors killed in their houses.. Tortured in Israeli prisons"
"Today is a day we think of our dead, we think of our people and we plan for tomorrow"
"Despite the attempt to erase the Palestinian people, tomorrow is a Palestinian day"
"13,000 Palestinian women and children who need immediate surgery.. 33 hospitals destroyed, 12 universities destroyed.. 22,000 Palestinian children have been orphaned.. 4,500 Palestinian children with amputations.. 15 months of genocidal erasure"
"We now need to help the people in Gaza mend their wounds and fix their lives"
Sky News, "It is intolerable that so many children have died, been maimed. You may have heard the Israeli government spokesman who said it was Hamas who started this conflict on October 7th with their brutality.. What do people think about Hamas, do they wish they had never broken through the border, fired 4,300 rockets, do they wish that had never happened?"
Dr Ghassan Abu-Sittah, "We wish that 1948 never happened.. That Israel had not tried to wipe out the indigenous population of Palestine and turned our families into refugees.. That the Sabra and Shatila massacre didn't happen.. That the killings of the first and second intifadas and all of the wars in Gaza had never happened"
"This is a war against the Palestinian people.. To randomly pick a point at which to say this is when we will accept history"
"What lies at the heart of the narrative of the Israeli spokesman whose boss is now wanted by the International Criminal Court, so he literally works for a wanted war criminal.. What marks his discourse is the racial othering of Palestinians"
"The fact that he finds 18,000 Palestinian dead children completely ungrievable. He does not find it in any way problematic that his arm amputated the limbs of over 4,500 Palestinian children"
"Your channel refers to Palestinians are prisoners, even the children arrested without trial. And the Israelis as hostages. Is a gain a racialised othering of Palestinians that has allowed the genocide to happen for 15 months"
"Our lives don't matter. Neither to you, or to him, because of the colour of our skin, because we are Arab muslims. The racialised othering of Palestinians allowed this genocide to take place"
The Palestinians that were released today were women and CHILDREN. Israel is an occupying force that regularly detains children and holds Palestinians without charge, but they’re never called hostages. The difference in language is by design.
