@fdondi1@cmflynn75@sleepy_devo Even in your scenario, those terms would not be "well defined." It's yet another circular definition. You cannot define a word with itself; the word would mean nothing. Claiming it is arbitrary yet basing a worldview on becoming that thing is inconsistent.
@Voxean@MichaelKeith@BroWire_ I can also say with confidence that's not why they werent spraying. They werent spraying because they had 2 guys on scene, 1 running the pump and the other making entry to get a direct attack. If they had a 3rd, he would've done exactly what the cop did.
@Voxean@MichaelKeith@BroWire_ If we treated house fires like that, then a lot more people would die and a lot more buildings would burn down. You can make a clear educated decision based on what is visible. This isn't schrodinger's fence, there isn't an electrical plant and an oil field back there.
@einfeyn@MichaelKeith@BroWire_ So would you prefer firefighters not make your burning house more tenable to protect your life for fear their might be a bottomless pit in your living room?
@einfeyn@MichaelKeith@BroWire_ When I say Class B, that is what I am referring to. The fire service is about taking measured risks for best potential outcome, and adapting when things don't work. If it were, you'd know fast, and get a foam line set up. Realistically, you can tell by location it likely isn't.
@einfeyn@MichaelKeith@BroWire_ You aren't going to drown a kid like that. Even if all the water magically banks off direct into the hypothetical child's mouth, it is far easier to bring a patient back from that than it is to bring them back from being burned alive. Silly comment.
@MichaelKeith@BroWire_ Why don't you go read the current J&B textbook instead of continuing with the nonsense. You don't know what you're talking about, that's why you have to invent scenarios and insult rather than educate yourself.
@MichaelKeith@BroWire_ No, I think you were trained in a different era with less scientific understanding and refuse to update yourself. The FF made a call, and did everything he could as the only one there to gain access. Other was likely running the pump. That doesn't mean indirect attack is invalid.
@MichaelKeith@BroWire_ Then you were a poor instructor, or are ignorant to the modern fire service. An indirect attack is expected in this situation. It's not pushing anything unless it is class B, which it clearly wasn't. If a child was there, the environment is now more tenable. Net positive.
@MichaelKeith@BroWire_ Do you think I care about my follower count? At least I don't pay to boost my posts. Try not lying about your level of education on a subject if you don't want to get called out for it.
@BroWire_ Idk why people insist on speaking without knowing anything. The cop did the right thing. If it wasn't obvious by the result, it helped. The FF wasn't wrong either, he was limited by being the first and only on scene for a moment.
@MichaelKeith@BroWire_ As an active firefighter, the cop did the right thing. Water on the fire is a priority. It makes the environment more tenable and limits further damage/exposure. You would know very quickly if it was Class B, and the benefits of putting water first outweigh the potential cost.
