AAEC Faculty @CompetitiveAg had a feature article in the @PlainsCotton member magazine on the economics of farming. Suffice it to say, the economics will be challenging in the era of inflation. Our faculty are doing good work for the region, state, and nation.
Hyun Ji Lee will be graduating in May with her Ph.D. in AAEC. She defended her dissertation on rural broadband under the supervision of Dr. Darren Hudson and Dr. Jamie Bologna Pavlik. Hyun Ji will be joining Midwestern State University as an Asst Prof of Economics.
Ashtyn Carter will be graduating in May with her Masters of Agribusiness degree. She is originally from Prosper, TX. During her MAB, she interned with the Global Ag Network and Ag News Daily. She will be a PR account executive for Brader Rutter upon graduation.
Michael O'Neil will be graduating this May with his Masters of Agribusiness. He is originally from McKinney, TX and also a graduate of our AAEC program. During his MAB, he interned with Preston Trail Land Surveying. Congrats Michael!
Abigail Spindle will graduate in May with her Masters of Agribusiness. Originally from Moriarty, NM, Abigail interned with @AgTexasFCS. After graduation, she will continue with AgTexas as a Loan Administrator/Customer Service Representative in Levelland, TX.
Emad Aljohani recently defended his PhD dissertation on technical efficiency in European grain production under the direction of Dr. Benaissa Chidmi. He is from Saudi Arabia. Emad was also just appointed as an assistant professor at King Saud University in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

Trevor Johnson recently defended his M.S. thesis titled "Consumer Preference and Willingness to Pay for Red, High-Antioxidant Sweet Corn" under the advisement of his committee chair Dr. Donna McCallister.
MS student Nathan Holtman, of Ropesville, TX, successfully defended his thesis on Global Agricultural Trade. His committee chair and major professor is the accomplished Dr. Stephen Devadoss. While at Texas Tech, Nathan was a trumpet player in the Goin’ Band. Congrats!
Israt Jahan recently defended her dissertation in development economics issues under the direction of @JamiePavlik. She has accepted a position as Asst Professor at the University of Wisconsin-LaCrosse. Congratulations Israt!!
Ashley Hamilton recently completed her MS project on Antimicrobial policy and taxation in cattle feedlots. She is a BS graduate from AAEC and has also earned her JD from Texas Tech Law School in our joint MS/JD program. She will be working on property law in Amarillo.
Daniel Sánchez-Piñol recently successfully defended his dissertation in AAEC on development economics. He was co-advised by @JamiePavlik and @ez_angus and was a fellow at the @FMI_TTU. Daniel is from Ecuador. Congrats Daniel!

Grace Blackwell is from Checotah, In December 2021, she graduated AAEC with her B.S. This past Friday she defended her thesis on Assessing Producer Willingness to Accept of Various Incentives to Increase Sustainability Program Participation. Congrats Grace!!
Shalynn Sumrow has successfully defended her master's thesis on "Consumer Beef Preferences and Risk Mitigation in the Beef Supply Chain in Response to the COVID-19 Pandemic: A Willingness to Pay Study." She will begin working with the USDA AMS Commodity Management Branch.
