Monsoon season is here! 🌧️ The @cityoftucson’s Operation Splash campaign is helping keep streets safe. DTM crews have placed barricades at dip crossings citywide, and free self-serve sandbags are available at Hi Corbett Field (700 S. Randolph Way) in Reid Park.
On Fri, June 19, @cityoftucson offices are closed in observance of Juneteenth (except emergency services, cooling centers, trash). All public transit will operate on regular schedules. Juneteenth marks the end of slavery in the US & celebrates freedom, resilience, and progress.
🚨TRAFFIC ALERT: Lane restrictions will be in place at the intersection of Glenn & Stone on Weds, June 17, from 6am to 4pm while crews conduct emergency traffic signal repairs. Please use caution if driving through this area.
🚦Over the next 3 months, crews will be updating traffic signals across Tucson to include flashing yellow arrows (FYA).
When a FYA is displayed, motorists may turn left after yielding to pedestrians, bicyclists, & oncoming traffic, & should proceed only when it is safe to do so
🚧TRAFFIC ALERT: The east/west leg of Suntran Blvd is closed, through mid-July, for a Southwest Gas project. There are also lane restrictions on Runway Dr from Weymouth St to Sun Tran Blvd. These restrictions are scheduled to be in place for about 4 months
🚨Traffic Alert: Beginning Monday, June 15 - crews will be gathering underground samples on Fairview from Miracle Mile to Wetmore for an upcoming project. Lane restrictions will be in place, including flaggers to help direct traffic. Use caution when driving through the area.
Starting next week, crews will begin nightwork on 5th St to remove old water lines. Work will take place from 7pm - 7am on the following days:
Alvernon: June 14 & 15
Columbus: June 15 & 17
Swan: June 17 & 21
Rosemont: June 22 & 23

On June 15 crews will begin work on the median island at Church Ave & Franklin St. Eastbound travel on Church will be closed. Westbound will remain open. This will be in place through early July. Also beginning Monday, the new traffic signal at Church & 6th St will be activated.
Starting Mon, June 15: West side of the intersection at Park Ave & Silverlake Rd closed for ~1 day to remove a waterline. No EB/WB through traffic. WB Silverlake Rd can turn right onto NB Park Ave. SB Park Ave closed 22nd–36th St. Follow signs & watch for crews in the area. 🚧🚦
The City of Tucson is planning improvements on Fairview Ave between Grant Rd and Wetmore Rd. This includes pavement rehab, pedestrian access improvements, upgraded ped crossings, enhanced bike lanes and other safety improvements.

Crews with the Department of Transportation & Mobility will close the intersection of Speedway and Harrison for repaving from 7 PM Sun, June 14, until 6 AM Mon, June 15.
🚨OVERNIGHT TRAFFIC ALERT: Fiber work along Speedway Blvd will be taking place from 7pm - 6am on Sunday, May 31 & Monday, June 1. The westbound curb lane will be restricted from 7th Ave to just west of Main Ave. This restriction will only be in place during the work hours.

On Wed May 27 traffic control will be in place at Glenn and Country Club. NB & SB Country Club will both be restricted to one lane of travel each. Work will take place until late June.
This will allow Southwest Gas crews to do tie in work. This schedule is subject to change.
On Mon May 25, @cityoftucson offices will be closed for Memorial Day (except emergency services & trash collection). Sun Tran, Sun Link, Sun Van, and Sun on Demand will operate on Sunday schedules. This Memorial Day, we honor those who gave their lives serving our country.
Lane shift and work is expected through late July (weather permitting). Final paving from 18th–36th St is planned next, with the project on track for completion in Oct 2026.

Wed May 27 crews will pave NB Park Ave (22nd - 36th). Thurs May 28 at 5 AM, traffic will shift to NB travel only. No SB travel permitted on Park Ave (22nd - 36th).
