Yokohama/Manchester. Blu collar ronin non-marxist lefty. Won't leave Twitter as I want to maximise the number of platforms where nobody pays me any attention :)
@nfergus 'Sir Keir said the question of "how accusations of racism informed decision making" must be addressed.' Perhaps he might want to also reflect on how calling all instances of public disquiet "far-right" might have been a factor?: https://t.co/jDIHdxFj3r
@Goodbob888@drhingram It fits if you're still close to your community, eat "tea” of an evening, do "working class" stuff, like holiday in Skeggie, etc. even if you went to a uni or are in a management position. I don't go on about it but it's obvious by how I live my life which class I identify with.
@AaronBastani@Jeremy_Hunt You have to love the "Thatcherite-lite" approach though - cut spending in oder to to, uhhhm (checks notes) keep raising taxes.
@drhingram They certainly do, Doc. I've just called time on a decades long friendship with an old university pal who has not used the time he spent learning to see all Brexit voters and those expressing disquiet at the pace of social change as anything but "morons", "fascists", or both.
It’s funny. When I add Dr to my bio then the woke-left rarely bother me. But when I add ‘working class’ to my bio they come at me aggressively and in numbers. I’ve tested it many times. The left has a pathological tendency to viciously attack people they regard as lower class.
@redrumlisa Despite my granny lecturing me on the morning of the '79 election "always vote Labour - the working man's party!" the first "loony left" era of the early eighties made me have second thoughts, and I've never really warmed to them.
This is wrong on every level Smith is a failed politician, disgraced by her actions & families actions regarding expenses, voted out by the public then brought back into Government undemocraticlly despite being rejected so she can now make people unemployed in the middle of rising unemployment she claims she wants solve. The Labour Party is a degraded, corrupted & failed institution. The British working class whose bodies the Labour Party was born from needs to now take away its life. Dont vote Labour they are not for us.
@ThePosieParker I know a lad who duffed up a bloke who was seeing a girl behind his back. Not advisable, but keeping schtum under police arrest was - he got off because his old man drummed "if you ever get arrested keep your gob shut!" into him, from childhood.
@KathrynPorter26 Yeah, I can go for that, with the caveat I'd extend practical social and educational support, e.g. safe third spaces, municipal facilities etc. for all disadvantaged kids, regardless of race. Make sure everyone's included from toddler age, in civic life.
This is so wrong
If minorities are over represented in the criminal justice system there needs to upstream support to make sure they are not disproportionately affected by poverty and other social harms
But those things do not justify or excuse criminal behaviour. Once the police are involved policing must be equal and in reposnse to what happened
If the courts choose to consider mitigation, that's a different matter, but the police need to be neutral
The government tell us to turn our heating down and eat less red meat for net zero. Yet they ram through gigantic hyperscale data centres that consume as much electricity in 24 hours as roughly 89 average streets use over an entire year. We are being treated like suckers.
@GroomB It was the first recorded Viking attack anywhere, as far as I know. They seemed to know where to aim for, so that character played by James Donald in the movie The Vikings (1958) who was a Northumbrian traitor might be close to the truth? ⚔️
The famous Viking attack on Lindisfarne took place on this day 793, regarded as the start of the Viking age in Britain. ‘Never before has such a terror appeared in Britain as we have just suffered from a pagan people,' wrote the scholar Alcuin.
@DoctorWhoWorld_ Yes. I lost interest thereafter. People say Tom Baker was great and looking back he did bring a certain something, but I liked the intellectual intensity and derring do of Pertwee's Time Lord.
Migrants and asylum seekers are a symptom and exacerbation of misery not the root cause. I haven’t met a single person who doesn’t know this. No one is delighted by tax evaders and declining living standards. But they can see influxes of people that bring wages down, it’s damned strange when people supposedly on the left forget this.
The parents that were allowing their kids to walk home from school now can’t because men are hanging around their streets staring at their daughters, or worse. Their schools and doctor surgeries are already shit, they know 400 new men in their town will put a further drain on resources. A&Es in cities are full of migrants, these are pretty visible issues.
Pharmacists and medics in hospitals are being replaced by foreigners who hardly speak English, to save money, and our own home trained young doctors can’t find jobs.
And as an aside my daughter was very unwell with sepsis and I can tell you the NHS is uncaring, horrendous and terminally broken.
Successive governments have worked against the working people in so many sinister ways, crippling small business, dismantling education, allowing tax evasion, making those on benefits better off than those on low wages, importing financially net negative people, net zero, even our own schools pay higher energy prices due to a green tax, closing SEN schools, closing community hospitals, allowing unvetted people (mostly men) arrive by boats, mass rape of girls over seven decades, the insidious rise in the power of woke, pretending men can be women, CRT to start to spread throughout supposedly intelligent minds and institutions … I could go on.
For those that sneer at people with concerns about migrants and migrants hotels I suggest you send a female relative you care about backpacking in Pakistan or Sudan or a male to Eritrea and see if that culture is one you fancy importing. Or just have a sandwich sat alone near one of the hotels.
Migrants are an issue, the asylum system is a scam, successive governments who don’t reap the consequences seem not to care for those that do, they don’t care about the impact on safety, they don’t care about decaying towns, they don’t care about you.
Don Rickles, the voice of Mr. Potato Head, passed away before he was able to record any dialogue for Toy Story 4. Rather than replace him, Disney reviewed 25 years of material from the first three films, video games, and other media and were able to assemble enough dialogue to cover the entire film.
🚨BREAKING: Miguel Bosé, the biggest Spanish-language pop star of the last few decades, has just released a video taking a knee and putting his hand over his heart in honour of Henry Nowak
This has now spread like a wildfire. Europe has never been more UNITED! 🇪🇸🇬🇧
