Massive @garbagefriends sweep by @Zbern411
I’ve known zbern for several years through different communities. And I’m forever grateful for his support since day 1 when I took the project over.
It’s people like him that makes me want to work as hard as I can and to make sure garbage friends is successful.
I can’t thank people in this community enough. And I mean that. Even if you have one garbage friend or a hundred. Your patience, kindness and trust fuels me to keep going.
And I promise if you stick long enough I’ll do my best to add even more value to you as a holder. 💚🗑️
My message to @opensea on behalf of the entire NFT community 2.0
Dear OS,
Let me begin with a phrase to learn and live by:
No Good Deed Goes Unpunished
Let me explain.
You believed the rewards campaign was a good deed, and that the community would accept it without issue. But as we’ve seen, that didn’t happen.
I understand the frustration. You gave out over 5 million in rewards, and the community still isn’t happy. I’ve been there, it’s tough to feel like your good intentions were met with backlash.
But you have to understand the psychology of this space. Good deeds can’t have strings attached. Even when they don’t, execution still determines whether people embrace or reject them.
Here’s what I would do moving forward:
- Focus on $SEA, not rewards.
- Lower your marketplace fee back to where it was.
- End the idea that this is about rewards.
- Hyper-focus on making $SEA a success.
- You can still incentivize trading for $SEA.
- And if you want to do a real good deed, operate the rewards program quietly. Don’t market it. Surprise your power users later with both their rewards and $SEA as a bonus.
tut™
anyone who’s spent any time in customer acquisition, lead generation, sales, etc; quickly learns that incentivized funnels are by far the lowest quality customer/lead there is
people who participate solely bc there is ‘something in it for them’, rewards, etc are quite often more troublesome than if you hadn’t targeted them to begin with
the only leverage point is a (false) appearance of an uptick in consumer demand and this is typically used to inflate numbers, impress investors, hit bullshit metric milestones, etc
sadly, @opensea is failing to utilize the blockchain for its most valuable asset (transparent recorded history) and reward the loyal users who’ve been using their services for years (with no expectation of a reward); and instead are asking them to ‘grind’ out rewards like some coupon site….
I expected more but honestly not surprised 🫠
I hate to FUD, but what @opensea is doing is ridiculous.
There are five years of rich on-chain history — real, organic activity. Collecting. Flipping. Trading. Whatever.
If you want to do an airdrop, that’s the data you should use to assess merit — not this obviously farmed wash-trading nonsense.
Did we learn nothing from @blur_io?
I’ve defended OpenSea for a long time. They are a web2-style company with the best product in market. But they were slow to innovate — and resorting to this kind of stunt is just sad.
Sorry. Tired of seeing posts about chests and other nonsense. Pathetic.
the modern airdrop has lost its aura
remember when we had REAL airdrops
no links, no claims, you’d just wake up to 5 figs in your wallet
make airdrops great again
Mixed feelings about @opensea right now.
On one hand, it feels like the most active and identifiable team they’ve ever had, a team that genuinely wants to change the game.
On the other hand… these stupid chest farmings.
They brag about “investing millions in rewards.”
Those millions? They’re coming from our pockets, from increased royalties paid by traders like you and me.
And the worst part?
Those chests aren’t rewarding believers or long-time users; They’re going to farmers with zero love for NFTs.
I’d bet 90% of those rewards end up being wetheored instantly.
This isn’t innovation.
It’s just volume worship disguised as progress.
GM Bomefers🐸
Before we share more details about our upcoming Labumefers drop, here’s a quick guide to Bomefers and what we’ve built along the way.
Take a look! 👀
ETH right now feels like BTC did at 20k
once we break past $4k, we’ll see a rapid movement towards $5k (ATH), and then you’ll see $10k before the year ends
Stablecoin regulation will bring TRILLIONS onto ETH, and massive companies will continue to launch L2s
$80k is possible
OpenSea has evolved.
Beta complete. Full token universe unlocked.
New rewards program live. Welcome to the new OpenSea — the best place to discover, own, and trade anything onchain.
