As a registered Republican, here’s my two cents:

Who you vote for personally in a primary, runoff, or even the general election is your business. The party should remain impartial in primaries and only endorse in the general.

Walters endorsed—disaster and resigned in disgrace. Lahmeyer endorsed—scandal and withdrew. Those are stains on the OKGOP, but they also reflect on all of us. We get lumped in with it.

Remain impartial, vote for who you want, and endorse in the general. That’s not hard to understand.

These purity tests and the constant labeling of people as “true conservatives” or not are absurd. And when you hold meetings, how hard is it to actually notify your members so they can attend? You can spend time and resources endorsing candidates and sending us text messages, but somehow can’t send out a simple “Hey, we have a meeting coming up in October?”

How does someone look at all of this and not think, “Wow…this is a mess?”

Also, why is our state GOP platform longer than the national one?

1) Stop calling it a smelter. That’s hurting my campaign. Start calling it a “plant”. No one will notice.
