Controversial take? Plenty of literature has been adapted and are regarded as classic films.

- The Lord of the Rings Trilogy
- Jurassic Park
- The Princess Bride

etc... Don't take umbrage with filmmakers, it's a medium; what matters is a great story.

"Everywhere you look, there are more screenwriters and producers eager to take great stories and “make them their own.” It does not seem to matter whether the source material was written by Stan Lee ...
