🚨 Lionel Messi reportedly agrees to buy Spanish second-tier club Eldense

Lionel Messi is reportedly closing in on a takeover of Spanish second-tier side Eldense.

The Inter Miami star has reached a preliminary agreement with the club’s owners, Grupo TH. The deal is now subject to due diligence and approval from Spain’s National Sports Council.

If completed, Eldense would become Messi’s second Spanish club, following his reported acquisition of fifth-tier Cornellà in April 2026.

Messi, 39, is also involved with Uruguayan side Deportivo LSM alongside Luis Suárez.

Founded in 1921, Eldense returned to Spain’s second tier this summer but have struggled early on, failing to win any of their opening four matches. The club recently parted ways with coach Claudio Barragán and are currently without a manager.

The takeover could create an interesting situation if Eldense and Cornellà ever end up in the same division, as Spanish football authorities may restrict common ownership of clubs competing in the same league.
