Remembering Charles Grodin (1935–2021) on his birthday.
Grodin’s Jonathan “The Duke” Mardukas in Midnight Run (1988) doesn’t get talked about enough, every line, every look, even chained up he’s still the one controlling the scene.
I have seen some disgraceful tweets about Ryan Mullen after the game yesterday. Ryan is a top goalkeeper and gives everything on and off the pitch and by no means did he want to leave the pitch yesterday. Every player makes mistakes it comes with the job and I’ve made plenty. Unfortunately for Ryan yesterday he was unable to play on despite persevering at first. He does not deserve any of the negativity or accusations he is getting, it’s disgusting. Im so disappointed that majority is from our own fans. As a club we win together and lose together.
There is a saying that sport is the most important of the less important things in life, but it sometimes produces the best stories. This is excellent writing about excellent writing. A great read.
If you’re looking for a Masters read before play begins today, I’ve got one that combines my love of writing, my fondness for 1986 prose, Nicklaus, Hogan and showing people that you appreciate them. @fried_egg_golf https://t.co/i3MpFeLvFO
🗣️ ‘THAT IS f—ing s—t!’ 🤬
Robert MacIntyre reacts accordingly after a poor wedge shot from 70 yards costs him a chance at a Par 5 birdie. 😅 https://t.co/vomwilkcY0
Last year, I met a Mexican athlete who told me an incredible story—that he’d been kidnapped in 2023 and forced to compete for his life in a secret tournament of cartels. Once I started reporting, the story only got more surreal.

Departure confirmed.
What Stephen Robinson achieved with this club should never be understated.
After a sticky start, he built a team that were very, very hard to beat, particularly at home.
Bringing our first top 6 finish in the new Premiership era.
Then did it again.
And again.
Claimed multiple Old Firm scalps, and certain grounds where we previously struggled to win, suddenly became happy hunting grounds.
He brought back European football to Paisley, and those nights against Valur and Brann will never be forgotten.
The SMISA became a place where teams rarely walked away without a battle, and crowds were booming.
But for me, and perhaps most significantly, he gave us a football club who on their day could compete with the very best in the country.
He instilled a belief and a determination in his squad that many of us had never seen before in the black and white of St Mirren Football Club.
He gave us a team, and a community that we could be proud of…
With all that said, I hope we fucking pump Aberdeen every time we play them.
So the question now is, who next?
Stephen Robinson brought back European nights to Paisley.
He brought us back to back to back top 6 finishes.
He brought us a national trophy.
He will go down as one of the finest managers the club has ever seen.
So for one final time, here’s to you, Stephen Robinson! 👏🏻👏🏻
