Claude Opus 5 built a real-time lightning simulator in Three.js that solves the electrostatics instead of just drawing a fake bolt.

It generates the lightning shape from the physics itself, runs at around 27 ms per frame, and even includes a depth-mapping system so the storm can be placed into arbitrary photos.

Around 10,200 lines of code.
