For a few hours each day, England hides one of its greatest landmarks.
Off the coast of Marazion in Cornwall, the ancient granite causeway to St Michael's Mount is slowly swallowed by the rising tide, turning the mount back into an island.
Yet for almost 1,000 years, people have continued to live, worship and defend this remarkable place.
In 1044, Edward the Confessor gave St Michael's Mount to Benedictine monks, beginning centuries of monastic life on the island.
That chapter ended with the Dissolution of the Monasteries in 1539. The priory then became a fortified home and later a Royalist stronghold during the Civil War.
Since 1659, the St Aubyn family has lived on the Mount, making it one of the few English castles to have remained a family home for more than 350 years.
Medieval walls, Tudor defences and modern family homes still stand side by side today.

Morning, some of my more unusual tomatoes growing mostly well. Black Beauty, Brad’s atomic grape (slightly nibbled, I dealt with the culprit) and Blueberry Dessert showing colour so far. Hope your day goes well.
I am off on a small adventure today - in London, catching up with my wonderful Texan cousin whom I haven’t seen for almost a decade. She’s at least as eccentric as I am, so this should be great fun!
Met pays Graham Linehan £25k over Heathrow arrest. Yet police are still turning up on doorsteps doing the dirty work of activists expecting them to be the thought police. Let’s hope this causes them to stop being political & just catch criminals, their job https://t.co/1Wyor2zaH2
Today I am in Shrewsbury to have my car serviced. Whilst waiting I discovered these glorious municipal gardens which I thought were a thing of the past.
Congratulations to Arthur Fery on a magnificent win taking you to the Semi Finals of @Wimbledon! 🎉🎾
The Queen was delighted to watch you play on Centre Court today. Thank you to everyone who works at The Championships to make it such a fantastic event for all.
The Government has agreed the NHS should pay 25% more for US drugs at the stroke of a pen.
But the Health Secretary can't say how much it will cost the NHS, where the money will come from, or if the figure has even been worked out yet.
Talk about checking out. What a shambles.
Rupert Lowe draws attention to the Fabian Society's eugenicist roots on Joe Rogan's podcast.
He warns that their goal is to establish a centrally planned, communist-style dependency culture.
"They're basically breaking the backbone of Britain."
"They are enacting this Fabian agenda, which is designed to create a society that's reliant on the state."
We all know the Pakistani rape gangs are continuing across Greater Manchester - today, yesterday and every day. One man is equipped to eradicate them as Greater Manchester Mayor.
Marlon West.
His daughter was a victim. He knows how the gangs operate, how children fall into the trap. He understands better than anyone.
As Greater Manchester mayor, Marlon has pledged to go to war with the rape gangs.
Parents & children were not & are still not being told about the horrendous long term side effects of taking cross sex hormones, that their body is not supposed to have in its system, especially in large quantities. Just look at the East German girls of the 70s & 80s all very ill
When the Home Secretary was asked whether the new "anti-Muslim hostility" guidance would hinder free speech, she wouldn't give a straight answer.
But clearly, it will. It'll mean that public servants spend their time avoiding accusations of racism, rather than doing their job.

Opening Jackdaw is common sense.
Britain needs cheap, abundant and reliable energy if we are going to grow. Jackdaw alone could supply around 6% of our gas needs this October.
Andy Burnham has a choice. Back British energy, British jobs and lower bills or let Labour’s Net Zero madness hold our country back.
The message from Aberdeen South was clear: people want secure British oil and gas.
