Here's how this dynamic plays out. The guy knows what needs to be done or what can slide or what's urgent. The wife develops massive neurosis to "feel" like she's cleaning and has all kinds of infleffective time waiting rituals.

"No, the knives all face left!" Or "I don't fold it that way" (while leaving oukes of laundry in the hamper for weeks) Kind of stuff. The husband quietly keeps his house clean while she bitches it's not done right and he shouldmt bother anymore. So now she does everything and resents him for it.

And to keep the peace, husband asks what particular and ever changing neurosis she would like help with so she can stop nailing herself to the cross, which In a Twist of irony, is what she nails herself to the cross with.
