Welcome to Twenty Dollar AI! ๐พ
What can a $20/month AI subscription really do?
I'm testing AI through coding projects, benchmarks, and real-world experiments.
I'll share results, costs, failures, and lessons learned.
No hype. Just real testing.
Let's build!
Ahead of the GPT reset I switched to Astra:
Sol 6.1 High took ~27.5 min (34% of 5h limit, ~3% weekly).
Astra Medium took ~7 min (44% of 5h and 4% weekly).
Both made progress, but needed testing. Different tasks, so not a direct benchmark.
@riya_mishra007 ๐ Building and learning with AI alongside my full-time job. Started Twenty Dollar AI to test what everyday users can actually accomplish with affordable AI tools. What are you working on and how do you feel about vibe coding?
Sol 6.1 has been much lighter on usage than Astra in my coding work, with similar results so far. Astra dominates heavy repo work, but I usually hit the 5h limit in 15โ30 min (~15% of weekly). Sol 6.1 uses about 1% of the 5h limit per minute. Please share your use cases!!!
@Henryf1w Been reaching out and engaging, but honestly haven't had much luck. Seems like a lot of people are more interested in posting than having actual conversations about what they're building.
@maximkich So far, ChatGPT Plus with Codex has impressed me i've used it to build and publish a Windows desktop app, automate spreadsheets, and now work on a project for my 9 to 5 job. Still exploring other $20 options to see how they compare Thinking Argon next. What CLI are you using?
@theo This is literally why I started Twenty Dollar AI ๐ Trying to figure out what these $20 AI plans actually deliver through real projects and testing, rather than another 8-paragraph debate about which model is better.
@LDT0545 C) Rarely. I start fresh sessions often and have Codex inspect the repo and existing documentation before making changes. Clear scope and verification help a lot. I've found that managing context is just as important as choosing the model.
@Nehakathare Honestly, how far AI-assisted coding has come. I'm not a professional developer, but I recently built and published a Windows desktop app using AI. The coding was only part of it. Testing, troubleshooting, and getting it ready for release taught me even more. What about you?
@petergyang@bot@spacexai I'd compare Grok Bot + Cursor against my current Codex workflow by building an AI-assisted pharma document review tool. Use Grok Bot for agent orchestration, Cursor for development, and test both workflows for accuracy, reliability, cost, and efficiency.
Friday thought
AI makes it easier than ever to start projects. But knowing when to stop is just as important.
This week I shipped a Windows app, finished an automation project, and scrapped a benchmark that got too complicated.
Not every experiment needs to become a product.
@Joi2James Not so far to get to a website, but here's my 1st github:
