@Joe_Webel@braunfarm Fall dirt work then rye ASAP, burndown and no till in spring. Works better than grass waterway in most areas for us because it lets water in better vs tall grass causing cutting around on each side of WW
@FoulkShay@MorkFarmsMN Part of me thinks land cost should be excluded for purpose of comparing international efficiency of production. Seems like it could be looked at more as a way that the local market has determined to split profits rather than a “cost of production” from a global perspective…?
@cgradert2@FoulkShay I caught it totally messing up summing a column twice this fall. I told it the total was not correct and it doubled down that it was. I had to tell it the correct answer and ask it to find its mistake until it admitted it. ChatGPT seem more accurate.
@ottoscholl@twotthree64 A- It happens. B- Effect “probably” negligible. C-It’s a black eye for the industry. D- jeopardizes legitimate use of the glyph. E- we still can’t seem to give an inch to those concerned by it. F - repeat C
@MaxROIFarmer@kim_nebraska@CBKimbrell@hofffarms Call me crazy, but I guess I’m a little sympathetic when “Tom” at church tells me they eat pretty normal, but has some concern about the chem in these lawsuits he sees on TV being sprayed on his food just before harvest.I don’t see that as a “Tom” problem. I leave it at that, Matt
@MaxROIFarmer@kim_nebraska@CBKimbrell@hofffarms I didn’t say they take no measures. This is why consumers don’t trust us. You are leaving no room for middle ground. “Shut up and eat it or grow your own/get radical about it.”
@MaxROIFarmer@kim_nebraska@CBKimbrell@hofffarms Not really. You seem to say because they have the option to withdraw from mainstream food system that they don’t get to have concerns if they don’t. I’m saying many people have concerns, but it’s not a high enough priority in their life to take drastic measures. That’s OK.
@MaxROIFarmer@kim_nebraska@CBKimbrell@hofffarms You realize not everyone with concern about risks goes to that extent? These are rational people, they minimize, not eliminate risk. You might do best to consider others more rational than you do currently.
@MaxROIFarmer@kim_nebraska@CBKimbrell@hofffarms We must talk to different people. I find many people not in agriculture are somewhat concerned about glyphosate and know about it. That turns closer to horrified if/when they hear of it being sprayed on a food crop just before harvest. Right or wrong, that’s the perception I hear
@MaxROIFarmer@kim_nebraska@CBKimbrell@hofffarms That’s just not reality. Consumers aren’t thinking of just flour. Pasta at the restaurant, the pizza from Casey’s, bread from bakery. Telling them to make it all themselves is not realistic. Afraid this issue is giving a blackeye to the industry on a hill we don’t need to die on.
