I have reported directly to a CEO or equivalent head of a massive division on several occasions.
They all, except one, like @elonmusk , did not understand where the loyalty and work ethic falls off and constantly compare their work ethics to those that report to them and are constantly disappointed.
As a leader and manager of teams I feel as if I have to explain this repeatedly to them. As they tout their 20 hour days and sleeping on the factory floor... they miss something. Something important.
The reward structure is asymmetrical even if a CEO offers even more $ than they make it will never be the same.
The most important thing a leader can do is engage in making an environment that people look forward to working in each day.
I, myself get up each morning and cannot wait to pour my work into a project that will outlast me. I want that same feeling for my direct reports. We should strive t be multipliers instead of diminishers. It should be contagious and that motivation can do amazing things.
As a CEO and owner of a company your life is your company and it will never be the company, property, success for others that it is for you.
Understand, when they leave backfilling their role will offset all the overtime you expected from them nearly every single time.
Just as important as your legacy of running a company is the success and happiness of your colleagues and their families- that is a legacy many greats in industry such as Henry Ford knew and respected and is recognized for a hundred year later.
If a CEO/Founder does not understand, adopt, and believe that then you will never engage loyalty from your employees. You will find out at the most inopportune moments too...
I believe @PalmerLuckey understands this, as well.
anyone have stories?...
I beg you…..please support independent brands and ranchers. Buy direct from a rancher. https://t.co/SWFXMV3Swp , we are family owned and operated. We ship nationally.
“In 1970, cattle ranchers earned 70¢ of every consumer beef dollar. Today, they get just 30¢.”
Under INA §212(a)(5)(A), a Green Card can’t be approved for a foreign worker if qualified Americans apply to the ‘PERM’ job ad. Immigration lawyers game this by hiding these ads in obscure newspapers so no one sees them.
JobsNow posts these ads online so Americans can apply, which forces PERM to be paused or be denied.
Now H-1Bs are on forums demanding the site be shut down so they can keep skirting the law.
Feel free to repost/share this thread with those in your circle who might find this interesting.

The vote on DOGE hasn’t happened yet.
The vote on DOGE cuts happens later today and I will vote YES.
Yesterday Mike Johnson hid a resolution to change the text of the BBB inside of a resolution that dictates terms of debate for DOGE. I voted against that jacked up bull crap.👇
Pharma isn’t telling you this…
But your VAGUS NERVE holds the key to erase stress instantly.
This hidden nerve:
• Controls your mood
• Lowers your heart rate
• Calms your nervous system
Here are 11 science-backed ways to activate it and eliminate chronic stress fast:🧵
Yeah. The so-called USA entrepreneurs/Amazon “manufacturers” who thought they had the ultimate “cheat code”. They are simply shills/marketers with a bit of ambition and guile. Basically logistic firms when it all comes down to it.
How about they purchase some extrusion molding machines, use their engineering prowess to oversee, direct and modify said molding machines. Hire tool and die craftsman and make your products as well as earn additional income making products for others
But here was their roadmap
Learn Chinese, and/or other Asian languages.
Possibly take an Asian bride. Bonus points for this!
Spend time in Asia doing due-diligence, networking, basically ingratiating yourself.
These self-proclaimed “manufacturers” simply found Chinese firms who could manufacture their widget, then arranged for packaging, and logistics. More than likely not a mechanical or chemical engineer in their lot.
Now their “master plan”, which they’ve taken so long to cultivate, is in question. A rug pull of sorts. But China has been a bad actor for decades, and now they’re held to account.
Manufacturing
In the past in the USA before outsourcing began, the owner(s) typically were degreed engineers and they surrounded themselves with engineers. It was boring and serious. No foosball tables, or lattes. Accounting, finance were backbenchers.
Trade shows were a church gathering, a congregation of non-nonsense engineers, not easily impressed, and did not suffer fools. Salesmen were equally steeped in technical expertise or else they’d be shunned.
Now trade shows are glossy, infotainment events filled with gladhanders. They pull out their engineers to talk to the technical guys in tow for the other bathtub sailors who flap their gums.
If tariffs are enforced this will be a boon to the heretofore discarded hard science engineering graduates.
My father was chief engineer at a major cable tie/connector manufacturer. Their founder had the initial patent for cable ties. Their main competitor was Molex. His role was lead engineer for cabling “racetrack” manufacturing. His team focused on stripping down and modifying molding machines for their specific purpose. He worked hand and glove with the tool and die craftsmen. He also worked with sales and marketing on new markets and products.
If indeed onshoring happens, companies not run by engineers will be absolutely ground up and spit out. Companies run by engineers will adapt to issues seamlessly on the floor of the factory, as they had done in the past.
Engineers can seemlessly collaborate with other engineers, even tho one may be chemical, mechanical, or a metallurgist. Science is science. Math is math. It’s the universal truth.
The ones who rise to the top in management can effectively comprehend and communicate most engineering disciplines. Those were the “rock stars” of days gone by.
Let’s get it on!
@CoreyJMahler Not much different than believing that someone can reserrect from the dead… that’s why I’m just a deist and don’t subscribe to any religion
Churchill traded away parts of the British Empire for 50 useless WWI-era destroyers—none of which saw real action. Then, desperate to drag the U.S. into war, he provoked Hitler into bombing London. The history books won’t tell you this.
