Our GLO Oil Spill Prevention and Response team recently partnered with @HarrisCoPct2 Commissioner Adrian Garcia's Office for the removal of a derelict sailboat in Clear Lake.

Commissioner Buckingham joined Commissioner Garcia to praise this coordinated effort to extract the abandoned vessel and help keep the waters in Harris County clean and free of safety hazards.

🚨 A $1.6 billion @USARareEarth and @CommerceGov deal has been finalized to help accelerate mining for rare earth and critical minerals on GLO state land.

Commissioner Buckingham is pleased to share that funding from these agreements will enable the Round Top Project to begin commercial production of heavy rare earth and critical minerals at Round Top Mountain on GLO state-owned land in Hudspeth County.

This landmark deal is a fundamental step toward U.S. elemental independence from China, which will enhance national security, improve our economy, expand employment opportunities for American citizens, and deliver lasting benefits to generations of Texas schoolchildren.

We're so excited about the Rollover Pass project, which includes the construction of a 1,000-foot-long fishing pier with a bait shop, fish cleaning station, visitor parking lot, and a dune walkover.

We're proud to share that the West Texas State Veterans Cemetery is now open for burials.

Commissioner Buckingham spoke with @KCBD11 about the importance of having a designated Veterans cemetery for our nation's heroes in the West Texas community, where families can easily visit their loved ones.

This beautiful Lubbock cemetery is the @TexasVLB's fifth Texas State Veterans Cemetery, as we continue our mission of providing all of our brave Texas Veterans with an honorable final resting place.

Our new online donations portal for the @TexasVLB is now live on the GLO website!

Commissioner Buckingham is proud to launch this new online portal, which will allow donations to the VLB's Texas State Veterans Homes and Texas State Veterans Cemeteries via a simple online form.

Construction is coming along nicely on the new Rollover Pass Pier!

Commissioner Buckingham recently traveled down to the Texas coast to check out the incredible progress of the 1,000-foot-long fishing pier on the Bolivar Peninsula.

The Rollover Pass project will not only strengthen vital habitats for marine life in the area, but it will also enhance recreational opportunities for local coastal communities and tourists.

In Temple, regional leaders received an update this week about the GLO-funded study producing predictive modeling and testing river gauges to better prepare for future flooding events, which will help save lives and protect property.

The GLO’s Leon River Watershed and Cowhouse Creek Watershed Flood Study is developing surface and groundwater flow models to identify placement for flood early warning system sensors and implement flood-risk reduction and high-water safety education programs.

The stranded "Buccaneer" shrimp boat has been safely and successfully removed from Crystal Beach.

Commissioner Buckingham announced that the GLO, @GalvestonSO, @GalvCoTx Office of Emergency Management, @USCG, and the vessel's owner saw the release of the 56' shrimp boat from its grounding place on the Bolivar Peninsula.

Thank you to @heavydsparks801 and the local, state, and federal agencies who helped to ensure the boat's safe extraction from the beach throughout this complex salvage operation.

Commissioner Buckingham is pleased to announce a partnership between the GLO and @HarrisCoPct2 Commissioner Adrian Garcia's Office for the successful removal of an abandoned, derelict sailboat, a 24-foot fiberglass recreational vessel.

They were joined at the press conference by Captain David Jasper with the @HCSOTexas Marine Unit and Russell Lavigne, the CEO and Director of Dead Boats Society, at Clear Lake Park for the removal of the sailboat.
