If trauma is left untreated, it can lead to maladaptive behaviors. Internalizing your pain is not always the best option. Sometimes you don’t see the effects of trauma until your pain causes pain to someone else.
There’s a reason why you do certain things and think certain things. You can maximize your level of growth by having an understanding of your own self. Self-awareness and self-growth go hand in hand.

Everyone has their own experiences with life. Your partners perspective may not always align with yours. An open mind creates a level of understanding. A closed mind is stuck in its own way.
Some decisions are just a leap of faith. You won’t always have the answers, and it won’t always make sense. Sometimes you have to trust God and believe He has His hand over your life.

Your partner will always have flaws but it’s up to you to choose what you want to focus on. You can magnify the negative or you can focus on the positive. Your feelings will follow your mind, and your mind will follow your perspective.

Tension is created when you spend more time trying to change your partner vs. accepting them for who they are and learning how to collaborate with their personality because the reality is that some people may never change. You either stay in it or leave.
Everyone grows and develops at their own pace. Learn to accept the fact that you cannot change people, and if people do decide to change then they will do so on their own at their own pace.
If you think a relationship will fill your emotional voids then you’re setting yourself up for disappointment. Your partner can help you grow, but your growth is YOUR responsibility. A partner shouldn’t be used as a “happy pill” to fill your voids.
