Double Blind was a pretty good dramatic thriller. More than anything else, it's insanely consistent. I never noticed any weird shifts and tone throughout the entire duration, in the writing or acting. I even thought the music and sound design were solid. 08/10.
Deranged was an ok movie. I feel bad saying that because it was apparently Korea's first big film about the specific sub-genre, but I just think it was trying to do too much. The performances and writing were okay, but the tone just kept shifting repeatedly. 06/10.
What happened to Dorothy Bell? was a very bad film. The writing and performances were absolutely atrocious, the editing certainly didn't help, and even the music felt out of place at times. It's not a movie that I can recommend in any capacity. Def a 03/10.
The Possession of Michael King was an ok time. Every single aspect of this was pretty mediocre. I don't think anything about it was all that bad, but I also wouldn't call a single thing about it all that good. It's a perfectly mediocre movie in every way. 05/10.
Between the Xbox Showcase, Summer Game Fest, and Sony's State of Player, I think we actually got a great variety of games in general to look forward to. No mater who you are, there was definitely something in the past 10 days that God your blood pumping. Hyped!!!
Doom The Dark Ages Revelations looks great. Honestly, this game story could have been about anything, and I'd be insanely hyped for it. The fact that it seems to be directly connected to the events & aftermath of the actual game is a cherry on top in my opinion.
Metro 2039 looks awesome. Taking place I believe 4 years after the events of Exodus, it introduces us to a new character, using new and old weapons, & fighting new and old enemies. Not sure if it'll connect to the previous games, but we'll see in February.
Resonance A Plague Take Legacy looks fantastic. It apparently takes place more than 10 years before the events of the first game, and will be telling the story of how the plague even came to be, from the perspective of a new character. Coming August 27th.
Very surprising announcements today of another game in the Hellblade story, simply called Senua. It will apparently have a much larger scope than the previous narrative driven installments, with a higher focus on combat, and an interconnected map.
Even as someone that isn't really into rpgs, Fable looks absolutely fantastic. They seem to be taking a realistically paced combat depending on the weapon you're using, and the characters seem like they're going to be super fleshed out, along with the story.
I really appreciate that Halo Campaign Evolved looks like a completely new game. Not only does it look like the graphics and most other technical aspects, are going to be updated to today's standards, but they seem to be going all in and expanding the story.
I can't get over how good Gears of War E Day looks. New weapons, super updated detail and graphics, and even the movement seems better than ever. More fluid, easier to snap to cover, and you even go prone if the cover is really low. Super excited for October 6th.
Finally got a new trailer for Wolf Among Us 2, revealing a slated release for some time next year. I assume the story will use stuff related to the Wizard of Oz, considering characters like the Tin Man & Scarecrow will be featured characters and possible antagonists.
Last Harbor actually looks super interesting. You're living out at sea, due to some kind of fungal virus turning people into zombies, and fighting other boats of survivors, but need to return to land and fight the infected once in a while, presumably for supplies or a story.
I'm insanely excited for the Resident Evil Code Veronica remake. It's the first of the remakes that I'm going into with zero knowledge of what happens in the story. Mostly because it's the first remake of one of the not SUPER popular installments. Personally super hyped.
The new trailer for Alien Isolation 2 doesn't reveal much, but confirms a lot. The Yutani company will be playing a role, Amanda Ripley will once again be the protagonist, & it's almost definitely taking place on earth after a ship with a xenomorph on it crashes.
I was actually really excited for Saw Genesis at first glance, because I thought it would be like the single player and story driven 360 games we got forever ago. But apparently it's just going to be another 3v1, Dead By Daylight rip off. Actually a serious bummer.
Having just beaten it, I'm actually pretty excited for the upcoming expansion for First Light. It will apparently see James Bond returning to that arms dealing "kingdom" from the base game, and will wrap the unfinished story involving the leader of said Kingdom.
I wasn't really a fan of Mafia Old Country, but this new Man of Honor DLC actually has me pretty hyped. Literally the only reason though, is that it ties directly into the original game, by giving us a glimpse into the early life of Ennio Salieri. That's sick tbh.
Galactic Racers is definitely an interesting idea. But despite pod racing being such a popular part of the Star Wars universe, I've actually never heard anyone ask for this. That could be a bad thing, or this could turn out to be something we didn't know we needed.
