Weston, Carlisle, Maidenhead, Southend, Guiseley and Forest Green all prevented from earning replays against higher level opposition
Great decision to scrap the replays 🤥
Today summed up the selfishness of the big Premier Lge clubs perfectly.
Weston-s-Mare, playing arguably the biggest game in their history away at Bristol Rovers, who are 3 divisions above them, battled hard and valiantly to a hugely impressive 1-1 draw. For 140 years…
This makes me think of what Scholes says about a few of his goals. One of the biggest goals of his career, a miskick.
As coaches do we sometimes overcoach to what we see as a "the perfect goal" or the "right technique" when sometimes you just need to hit the ball on target.
I’ve seen a lot of unsuccessful UEFA A Licence applications posts the last couple of days, highlighting “flaws” in the selection process. I disagree. It’s taken me 6 years and multiple roles to go from completing the UEFA B Licence, to being accepted at the 3rd time of trying…
Why?
"Why don't we produce English coaches of Tuchel's standard, Collymore "?
Two reasons.
1. £13,700 to do your Pro licence in England, today. In Spain it's around €2000. There are 2200 Spanish pro licence coaches. There are 200 English pro licence coaches. Look at the correlation between cost and coaching number.
2. Gerrard, Lampard, Rooney all took jobs instead of doing 3 years at SGP. Why? Gerrard got £2.5m at Rangers, Lampard £1m Derby, Rooney $1m Washington. Fuentes, Spanish head coach coached Sevilla and Bilbao youth on around €30k then Alaves first team where he lasted 6 months on around €100k before being sacked ( for those who thought Southgate Boro CV wasn't up to scratch).
So English coaches have to pay 10 times more than European compatriots to get the same qualification, and English players don't give SGP an identity because they never get there, they go straight to jobs where their fame gets them inflated salary and deal.
I invite anyone reading this to..
Tell me Gerrard's philosophy.
Lampard's philosophy.
Rooney's philosophy.
You can't. Because they never went to SGP to learn one or develop one with each other. An "English way". All winners by the way.
Spain? France? Every 12 year old could tell you the arse end of every Spanish coach, what the core tenets are and how they play. Why? Those coaches coaches with each other, can afford the courses and develop an overall style that suits the environment they work in ( Spain), which is then taken abroad and utilised everywhere.
Deal with the root causes and we'll get our coaches.
ICYMI | We are on the lookout for some Junior Coaches to accommodate for some of our newly set up teams! ✍️
