I have Mennonites near me that I love as well.
They don't vote so they don't help in keeping a country preserved so that Christianity continue to flourish.
And the Amish because they don't embrace certain parts of modern culture aren't able like Lds people to send aid or bless other nations or spread the gospel in the same way we can to Africa other countries.
They have their pros, but they certainly have their cons.
God's people shouldn't be insular while the rest of the world burns. They should be activate participating in bringing about the building of God's kingdom here on earth.
Is there another solution though because if they don't stop the Chinese from coming in to war dogs here in the US I can guarantee that I will stop playing because lately there's Chinese hackers in every game and it is absolutely destroying my desire to play this game.
Sometimes hard decisions have to be made limiting a few people so the entire game doesn't get destroyed.
I will share this with you because you seem to be reasonable and honest.
When I was 19 and about to serve a mission for my church in Colombia, I was in the missionary training center in Utah.
We practice teaching and the language because I was learning Spanish.
This takes about at that time 10 weeks for your training, before you go by airplane to your country that you're going to serve in.
We get to have about an hour a day of basketball or other sports, but most of the time we're sitting in class.
At Basketball, I jumped and came down on someone's ankle and rolled my ankle both directions that I felt something tear and felt instant severe pain in both sides of my foot.
My very first thought was this was about nine weeks into my training and I was very excited to leave the missionary training center and go to my mission, but that because of this injury, I would not be able to go.
Immediately that evening, my foot was purple and swollen and full of blood, but I was afraid to go to the doctor and have them send me away from the training center and to hold me back from going on my trip to Colombia.
I asked my companion who was also 19 to give me a priesthood blessing that we use consecrated olive oil as part of the anointing.
He agreed, and in the blessing, he felt inspired to say that I would be fully healed in three days and be able to go on my mission without going to a doctor or being held back.
I had faith and believed him, even though my foot was large, swollen, and purple.
I prayed also that God would heal my foot so that I would not be held back because I felt this was a righteous desire in God might grant it to me.
The next day, it looked worse than the day before I could not touch it to the ground let alone walk.
My companions in the missionary training center carried me to my meetings and I told the adults that it was fine and no big deal even though some didn't believe me.
The second day it was still swollen purple and now Greene and I still could not touch it on the ground.
On the third day I woke up and it was almost fully healed like nothing had happened. The swelling was gone. The coloration was still there, but I could walk with only almost no pain.
On the fourth day, it was like 99% healed and all I could feel was some slight soreness to remind me that it happened.
Couple of days later I got on the plane flew to Columbia and it was like it had never happened.
I know, without a shadow of a doubt God healed my foot and ankle so that I could continue on with my mission.
I've had a couple other experiences just as miraculous and some that I would not share with anybody.
I have family members who have seen or had other miracles happen in their life that are sacred to them as well.
God bless you on your journey to understand God and truth that we are all on together!
So you think that in the New Testament when Paul and others are writing letter letters to correct false teachings and misunderstandings that different church groups had, that we have all of their writings, and then after those specific letters and teachings, there was never any more correction needed?
Do you think there's no truth in any apocryphal works?
Do you think that it was the wickedness of man and an oppressive government might have been the reason that the apostles didn't continue?
Do you find a lack of confusion in what is truth nowadays that there would be no need for continued correction and revelation?
The original posters question is to ask these questions of yourself and be humble enough to seek an answer.
@ReelPressence@BIGKLDS That's a really interesting question.
I'm not exactly sure what you mean?
Can you be more specific so that I understand what you mean for sure?
I don't know how you can say that and not realize you're being inconsistent.
All belief is subjective, I have witnessed miracles that I cannot explain with anything except for the power of God how is that different than claimed Catholic miracles?
All of us have to work out our understanding and belief, and I believe that God is extremely patient with us, especially if we do it with good intent, whether your catholic or protestant or Lds.
My testimony of the miracles that happened in Joseph Smith's day as well as the ones that happened today are sure enough to me that I would die for them but yes, this is subjective.
In your initial post, you said that Mormon apologists are misrepresenting the case.
And you pointed to one specific situation, the church has made a point of, it's not just this guy's words as the case for why they're going after the copyright.
They cited more cases of people being confused as evidence, but their initial statement is that it creates confusion around the Church and Church supporting Podcasts.
This is accurate you are taking one situation and splitting hairs, and then applying it generally to all Lds apologists.
You're strawmanning their case both the churches and the Lds apologies case against Mormon stories.
@ReelPressence@BIGKLDS I actually wondered if that was the case, but I thought you were just being funny.
I still stand by what I said! Godspeed, Brother
It is 100% clear from his own words and from many testimonies that his choice of branding was to specifically have faithful members see his program and to try to lead them away from the church.
When I first saw his podcast, I personally thought it was a church supporting podcast and it wasn't till soon into listening to him speak with some of his Guest that I realized that it was a wolf in sheep's clothing.
It is clear to me.
It is clear to thousands of others to say differently is illogical and unreasonable.
Brother, your name is real presence.
Do you believe in real presence if you do, then you would not believe that God really loves you and wants you through the inspiration of a Holy Ghost to come and understanding the truth of all things.
The Bible is like a puzzle with some of the pieces missing, if you make it your God without accepting the real presence of the spirit to guide in direct the church through public revelation you'll always be missing apart.
One of the clearest things in the Bible is that God always calls prophets to lead his church and his covenant people.
I understand some of your concerns about abortion specifically, but those exceptions are to be in the absolute worst and minimal occasions where the church still recommends not having abortion. They are only not trying to resolve every single situation because that is nearly impossible.
Sometimes a person has to judge for themselves.
Much like we are commanded not to murder yet in war or self-defense sometimes we have to kill.
The church is not like Jewish law where it commands. You're every move and Action.
We have testimony that passed prophets and apostles have seen bodily, the risen Christ, I have received impressions during general conference and other times that modern prophets or apostles have also seen or had visions of the savior Jesus Christ, or possibly it may be that their witness is so powerful and sure that it seems to me that they have even if they haven't.
To be honest, it is the same either way because of the confirmation of the Spirit that I've received that they are special witnesses of Jesus Christ!
@BradWitbeck@MichaelFKane Looking forward to it.
Also, I'm going to buy your book today. Been thinking about it and haven't pulled the trigger yet cause I keep forgetting, but I'm going to go do it now.
@BradWitbeck@MichaelFKane Brad, you need to convince Cardon to have an episode where you and others discuss some of the best fantasy science fiction genre books and why you like them I think people would like it!!
You are missing a fundamental tenant of the law of consecration and that is that it's voluntary.
It's an invitation to live a certain way socialism and communism are not invitations. They are by force. They are a anathema to God's plan of agency and voluntaryism.
Your desires for having all things equal are great if you put it in practice and invite others to do the same, but doing it by governmental force brings pain, suffering, destruction, and tyranny!
"Why do Mormons emphasize biblical fallibility? Do they not respect the Word of God? It seems like top Mormons like Jacob Hansen @ThoughtfulSaint are always trashing the Bible."
Here is why it is crucial for EVERY Christian to acknowledge the Bible has flaws:
1) There are undeniable contradictions (i.e. who sold Joseph to the Egyptians). If you deny that, you have become permanently married to cognitive dissonance. You'll sleep a lot better at night without dissonance.
2) You stole the idea of an infallible canon from the Muslims. Don't be like the Muslims.
3) You presuppose a book needs to be without error for it to be trustworthy or reliable.
4) It's better to believe in a contradictory book and a consistent God rather than a perfect book and contradictory God.
5) Jesus edited the text. "Ye have heard it said [in the Old Testament]β¦ but I say unto you." Christ corrected written scripture in public. If the Bible were beyond revision, the Sermon on the Mount is blasphemy.
6) Biblical Inerrancy is a modern invention. The formal doctrine comes out of 19th-century Princeton and was codified in the 1978 Chicago Statement.
7) The Bible never claims inerrancy for itself. 2 Timothy 3:16 says scripture is God-breathed and profitable. Paul was talking about the Old Testament. He was not describing a book that didn't exist yet. There were still NT writings yet to be written. And you presuppose 3 things:
1 - that Paul spoke inerrantly
2 - that he was being literal
3 - that he was referring to the writings, not the law God gave to Moses as it left His mouth (Yes God has a mouth)
8) It preserves God's omnibenevolence.
If there are no errors in the Bible, then atheists have a valid point that God is not worthy of worship.
Biblical authors and scribes say God commanded them to kill babies.
The "infallible" Bible says God doesn't love everyone equally. Why would God harden Pharaoh's heart? Because Pharaoh hardened his own heart first? So we only get one chance to repent? This contradicts God not being a "respector of persons."
9) Literally every Christian who says the Bible is perfect is guilty of idol worship and places the Bible above God. Here's my evidence:
A) They don't expect God to answer questions via personal revelation; God can only speak to them from Bible verses. Thus, the Bible has replaced their relationship with God. The book outranks God.
B) The idea of another book of scripture offends Christians as if you are suggesting worshipping another diety, and now they are closed off to the idea of more word of God. The Tree can produce many fruits, why close yourself off to one fruit?
C) They can't describe God without quoting the Bible (or Aistotle?). A Being you know know through print means you know the text, but you don't know God.
D) They can't tell you which Bible is infallible.
The original manuscripts don't exist (like old Joe's golden tablets). Every manuscript copy has variants. So the perfect book is one no living person has ever read. They worship an object they've never known, only it's shadow.
E) The discovery of the Dead Sea Scrolls provided a more reliable version of prophetic writings but what do Christians do with it other than poke it with a stick?
F) Fallible men chose the 66, 73, 81, etc books in your version of the Bible. Which Bible verses tells you your version is the best?

Love your thoughts here.
I have really enjoyed you videos on YouTube.
The debate on Inspirings channel was another example of when someone who tries to intellectually explain the Trinity and has had some honest reflection, realizes that it's nearly impossible to explain or defend.
The situation with William Wayne, Craig, also doing sort of the same thing really shows that the pressure I think in part by Lds seems to have other Christians questioning their unchallenging belief in the Trinity doctrine.
