@ASH_hematology Late Breaking Abstract:
Should patients receive extended duration anticoagulation with reduced or full dose DOAC for the secondary prevention of recurrent VTE - The RENOVE RCT presented by @FCouturaud
Reduced dose DOAC was not non inferior to full dose ((5-year cumulative incidence 2.2% vs 1.8%, P=0.23 for noninferiority) but lower risk of clinically relevant bleeding (9.9 vs 15.2%)! 🩸
Risk benefit seems to favor reduced dosing for most patients #ASH24
RENOVE trial: Full dose vs low dose extended anticoagulation in pts requiring long term AC.
Conclusions:
-similar low rate of recurrence (~2%) in both groups
-lower rate of bleeding w low dose
-a chance to compare DOAC efficacy (same!)
-caution w obesity
#ASH24@FCouturaud
Extended-dose DOAC vs full-dose DOAC #Renove RCT #ASH24 Late breaking abstract. Officially, reduced dose was not non-inferior, but recurrent #VTE rates were low and there is a substantial reduction in major and non-major bleeding. Congrats to @FCouturaud & @INNOVTE1
