The resulting accumulation of water-insoluble protoporphyrin precipitates within hepatocytes and bile canaliculi, forming dense, dark brown crystalline plugs that induce oxidative stress, inflammation, and rapidly progressive cirrhosis.
Explanation: This case demonstrates hepatic involvement in Erythropoietic Protoporphyria (EPP), a rare metabolic disorder of heme biosynthesis caused by deficient ferrochelatase activity.
