Para um ucraniano em cativeiro russo, cada minuto adicional é mais um risco de sofrer viol��ncia. Segundo a Missão de Monitoramento dos Direitos Humanos da ONU na Ucrânia, mais de 96% dos prisioneiros de guerra libertados relatam ter sido vítimas de tortura ou tratamento desumano.

Just hours after the US President’s peace envoys left Kyiv, Russia launched another large-scale attack on Ukraine's capital and several other regions of Ukraine.

The strikes on Kyiv killed at least two people and injured at least ten others. The capital suffered significant damage to residential buildings and other civilian infrastructure.

Critical infrastructure was hit in Kyiv region, while in Odesa region, Russia struck an ordinary market. Two people were injured in Kharkiv, where an apartment building was damaged. In Sumy region, a railway locomotive was attacked at a station this morning. Zaporizhzhia and Dnipro regions also came under attack.

Ukrainian defenders destroyed 175 aerial targets overnight, but not all threats could be stopped. Ballistic missiles remain particularly difficult to intercept. Ukraine continues to raise the urgent need for more interceptors with our American and European partners.

Further meetings are taking place today with countries and companies that can help strengthen Ukraine’s air defence and support our FREYJA anti-ballistic system.

Today, a Russian attack drone hit the building of the We Are Ukraine TV channel in broad daylight – while journalists were live on air. At least five people have been injured. The building was partially destroyed.

Russia has taken its attacks on media to a new level, using “Shaheds” to target journalists while they were working. The world must not ignore this. Russian terror must be stopped through united international actions.

Ukrainian medics work under fire and travel through damaged roads to evacuate the wounded. Russian forces also target evacuation teams, including when they are helping civilians or heavily wounded soldiers.

Unlike standard ambulances, armoured evacuation vehicles are built to withstand enemy fire. They are faster and more agile, helping medics reach the wounded quickly and safely. More protection means more lives saved.

Not a single day in August passed without a Russian attack on Ukraine.

Throughout the month, Russia kept Ukrainian cities and communities under constant threat – launching drones and missiles, dropping aerial bombs, and forcing millions of people to live around air raid alerts.

In August alone, Russia launched over 6,000 drones, including more than 2,500 Shaheds, over 200 missiles, and more than 5,000 aerial bombs against Ukraine.

Behind these numbers are nights and days interrupted by sirens, people rushing to shelters, homes and infrastructure damaged, and lives lost or changed forever.

Russia is also adapting its tactics. It launches drones in repeated waves and small groups, stretching air raid alerts for hours, and deliberately trying to exhaust both Ukraine's air defence and its people.

Russia's actions leave little doubt about its choices: day after day, it continues to choose war. Ukraine needs stronger air defence and continued pressure on Russia to stop this daily terror.

Since 27 August, Kyiv has faced wave after wave of Russian drones, with new threats emerging soon after previous ones have passed.

Alongside large-scale night attacks, Russia is increasingly sending smaller groups of drones during the day, including fast jet-powered drones that are more difficult to intercept.

Every launch puts lives at risk. Their relentless frequency adds another dimension to Russia's tactic: keeping millions under threat, forcing people back into shelters, disrupting work, transport and services, and exhausting civilian life in the capital.

Russia is looking for new ways to escalate its war. Ukraine needs the means to counter them – more anti-drone capabilities, stronger air defence, and faster European production of the systems that protect Ukrainian skies.

Russia is adapting its attacks. Our ability to stop them must adapt faster.

All generations of the Ukrainian people must always remember and honor the life of every warrior, every hero, sacrificed on the battlefield for the sake of our state and our freedom.

Today is a Day of Mourning in Kyiv for those killed in Russia’s massive attack on August 20.

At least 16 people have been killed and dozens more injured so far.

The attack damaged residential buildings, industrial facilities, warehouses, hospitals, cars, a school, and a shop.

The aggressor state has once again resorted to outright terror, striking civilian infrastructure and peaceful civilians.

Russia must be held accountable for this and all its other crimes against Ukraine.

Eternal memory to those who lost their lives. Our deepest condolences to their families and loved ones.
