The UCD MSc in One Health is a new one-year Masters programme designed for graduates who are passionate about the interconnectedness of human, animal, plant and environmental health, looking for a global career that spans sectors, disciplines and institutional boundaries.

The first programme of its kind to be offered in Ireland, students will learn from a diverse group of internationally recognised experts from across UCD and will benefit from innovative learning and skills training. This will equip them with the capabilities to put One Health into practice.

We are inviting graduates with a minimum Level 8 degree or international equivalent from diverse disciplines, e.g. health, veterinary, environment, agriculture, food systems, policy, economics, law, data and related fields, to apply now for a September 2026 start.

We are recruiting for a Research Master's student interested in inclusive sport and the personal and social impact of mixed-ability triathlon training. 

This one-year MRes is fully funded (EU fees + €18,000 stipend) by Triathlon Ireland through Sport Ireland's research grants scheme.

Application closing date: Friday, 21 August 2026, 17:00 (Irish time)
Start: January 2027

The MRes student will be supervised by Dr Ross Neville, Associate Professor and Head of Subject (Sport Management) at UCD School of Public Health, Physiotherapy and Sports Science.

If you are a female athlete, 18 years or over, you might like to participate in one of these really interesting studies being conducted by UCD SPHPSS PhD student Eline de Jager, supervised by Dr Sinead Holden.

Eline is researching a number of areas including how measures of recovery using wearables vary with ovarian hormone profiles, and how females use menstrual tracking in sport.

Today on Earth Day 2026, we are proud to be participating in the Planetary Health Report Card initiative, which has the goal of evaluating and improving planetary health content in health professional schools.

Led by UCD SPHPSS MSc in Clinical Nutrition & Dietetics students Jessica Barbulescu and Aoife Kelliher, and mentored by Dr Sarah Browne, we have evaluated our MSc in Clinical Nutrition & Dietetics programme for planetary health and recorded the initiatives we are currently undertaking in this area, in addition to identifying further opportunities for improvements that we can pursue to ensure we protect the future of our planet.

Dr Nicol Van Dyk is an Ad Astra Lecturer/Assistant Professor at UCD SPHPSS. He is a trained physiotherapist and performance health researcher and has studied, worked and researched around the world. A clinical researcher with a special interest in muscle injuries and injury prevention, he has great appreciation for integrated healthcare, shared decision making, and evidence based medicine.
